Terrible Disney Stories

Hi. I don't know if there is a thread like this already...but I've just got to tell my terrible Disney story and wonder if anyone else had ones like this? (kinda long)

My terrible story had nothing to do with the actual Disney park in anyway...it was the guest I brought along.

My family went to WDW in April of 2004. It was my mom, dad, sister, her boyfriend and i was single (and in high school) and brought along my friend Kate. Kate was one of my really close friends. At the time, I wasn't a big rider and neither was Kate and Kate had never been to WDW. My family paid for my entire trip and everything for Kate's trip except her plane ticket and park tickets. Not a bad deal.

First day - AK. 2nd day - MGM (at this time...didn't ride ToT or RnR, so she didnt ride either of those)....One the 2nd night, she gets a call that her EX BOYFRIEND (stress the EX) went on a date with another girl (we were in 10th grade! in HIGH SCHOOL!) She flipped out. Bawling like crazy. Called her mom to buy her a plane ticket HOME. She wanted to leave THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH because her EX boyfriend went on a date! :fork:
And her mom ALLOWED THIS TO HAPPEN. my dad had to ride with her to the airport (miss half a day at Epcot) and she went home because she "wanted to be with her mom and talk to Ryan"(the ex). So my family was left with 5...not the greatest of numbers for WDW. A lot of times one of my parents or sister or her boyfriend had to ride alone because no one would let me ride alone because they knew i was upset. I was so angry! What a terrible reason to leave THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH! If someone did that to me...i'd want to escape to Disney, not go back home!

All in all, it proved to be a good thing afterall because I was so sick of my parents having to sit out on rides with me that I didnt want to...I rode everything! It was truly like Disney Magic that helped me have a great time even though my best friend bailed on me. :animwink:

Nothing is a melodramatic as a 10th grade relationship.

Good to hear your trip went well in the end though.

Both my little sister and I got scarlet fever one trip. :dazzle: Thankfully, we had a doctor friend there who wrote us a perscription for her until we could get one from home. But I definitely remember fever and sweating all night for a few nights and getting sick :hurl: at the TTC before a character breakfast (but a real nice cast member helped me feel better :) )

I have 2: 2 weeks before our October 2002 trip, our house burned down. Since the trip was paid already, we cleaned out what we could, and went on the trip anyway. There was a big group of us - aunt & uncle, me, son, sister, father, cousin & cousin's daughter & friend. On the way there, we stopped at Pensacola Beach for the night. Cousin lost the ONLY key she had to her car. We left her there to wait for Pop-A-Lock. (We were already frustrated with her after 7 hour road trip at this time). She catches up with us on the interstate. Coming into Kissimmee, she wants to stop and buy a new camera. We pull into Eckerd's. She gets out, kids get out....LOCK NEW KEY IN CAR. It took 2 hours for a good samaritan to finally unlock the car. The first day at WDW (AK) they complained about the crowds, the fact that she had to pay out $80 for a new car key, & not having enough spending money to eat at one of the more expensive restaurants we had booked. She rides the rapids ride, gets a little wet (honestly - not very wet at all) AND BUYS A WHOLE OUTFIT AT ONE OF THE SHOPS. The next day, they overslept and we told them we'd meet them at the Studios. (We didn't) We ended up ditching them the rest of the trip. I'll spare you my second story, but it's just as bad.

My niece broke out with chicken pox on the plane to Orlando, so she had to spend her Disney vacation in a hotel room. :(

OK, I'll share my story, but before I'll start I'll surrender to Kate-gate. My story's not quite as traumatic.

Here we go (and I'm praying that the family I'm talking about is not in this forum)... Five years ago, we took my brother's fiancee (now his wife) with us for her first trip. The first day, we're walking into MK for EMH, trying to impress to her how important it is to hurry to Space Mountain and to keep up with us at all costs. We get to the edge of Tomorrowland, where it's roped off until it's officially time to go.

Another family standing near us at the rope is all dressed in matching T-shirts, and they're acting sooooooooo cheesy! About 10 minutes before opening, they huddle up, put their hands in the circle, and chant "GO TEAM MANNING!" Then, they start buttering up the CM's, who were clearly young and impressionable, to allow them to go first on Space Mountain.

When it's time for the ropes to open, the CM's take Team Manning, holding hands in a line, and demand that we all get in line behind Team Manning, even going so far as to yell at a couple of kids for trying to get ahead of them. The rest of the day, everywhere we turned, Team Manning was kissing up to CM's to curry favor (not to mention how cheesy they acted all day)! It nearly ruined WDW for my brother's fiancee!

Oh, that IS bad. I think we all know people like "Team Manning" in our lives. At least you only had to put up with them for that one day. Imagine the poor people that have to live with them all the time!

I went in 2005 with an ex-girlfriend and her family. They had never been to WDW so I thought they'd want to experience everything.

Wrong.

We had the dinning plan and all they cared about was having enough time to eat. We barely saw anything because they just wanted to eat. At one point we ended up at a resort which wasn't ours. I had no idea where we were because I woke up on the bus and we were at some place I've never seen or stayed.

They also thought we could go to EPCOT in the morning, see it all, and then go to MGM by mid-day.

We also never made it to the parks before 12 because we'd eat a huge breakfast and then some members would want to sit outside and smoke. I've never felt so anxious to go to the parks in my life.
