I'd rather screens to convey that information as well. I also think that it would be more effective to have the attraction start with screens showcasing George's fame and starring roles immediately preceding guests meeting George "in the flesh" leading into the story of the film/ ride.
What if we combine the tunnel idea with this then? Maybe the tunnel has very low piano music and screens alternating or something showing his different films before the big movie premiere scene that started the actual film?

So any other thoughts from Ace and/or Dash? I think we're starting to get a good feel for what we want the attraction to be like, and if Jokers and I are sharing the ride scene description, we can try and get started on that soon if there aren't any other thoughts or suggestions on the overall idea of the attraction.

I think it sounds to me like you folks have an overall idea for how you want to take it, and I'm really liking the sound of it.

I've been thinking a bit about where to place the ride. Although Universal usually does more IP-based attractions, they're often more tied to pop culture. I think it's more realistic for Disney to do a ride for The Artist, especially if the concept was emphasized more than the movie in advertising.

Oftentimes Disney will create expansions for multiple parks. We can see this in Galaxy's Edge, Runaway Railway, even the Splash Mountain retheme. If they are changing something in one park it often means changing the other parks. I rarely see this come up in Armchair Imagineering. So, I thought it would be interesting and unique if we created this ride for three parks simultaneously!

Disney's Hollywood Studios -- Sunset Boulevard

Orlando.JPG

Coming to Walt Disney World, The Artist will open alongside an entirely new miniland for Sunset Boulevard, themed to a 1930s Hollywood Backlot. The Rock n Roller Coaster and McQueen's Racing Academy will be incorporated into this themed area, and it will connect two dead-end areas off the main Sunset Boulevard.

Disney's California Adventure -- Studio Backlot

At Disneyland Resort, Hollywoodland will get a major upgrade. The area already loosely themed to a Hollywood Backlot will gain stronger thematic consistency, with all street shows converted to a 30s aesthetic and the Hollywood Lounge Restaurant rethemed to a series of trailer vans for actors and actresses on the set. That Monsters Inc ride no one cares about is replaced with the region's e-ticket, an attraction for the 2011 film The Artist.

Walt Disney Studios Parc -- Place des Stars

Paris.JPG

With Marvel, Star Wars, Frozen, Pixar, and since that Double Anniversary, Toontown, the Studios is rapidly filling with IP lands. But as The Artist is a French film, it is only natural for it to find a home in Disneyland Paris Resort. The current Place des Stars will be loosely improved in theming, although the stars element will remain. CinéMagique returns (in blue) while Disney Junior Live's building is replaced with the Artist E-Ticket attraction. Finally, the area between these two attractions becomes a quick-service restaurant themed to studio catering.

That's a good idea... I was thinking about Sunset Boulevard for sure, and Walt Disney Studios makes sense for sure, so we should also focus on how to integrate the attraction into those parks, especially in the exterior. I wonder if it's necessary to put it in California Adventure though since the only way for us to integrate it is to retheme the land, which isn't really part of the prompt... but I do like the idea of parallel expansions with the attraction

Extra points if you get rid of the horrible Monsters Inc ride

Personally, I like the idea of DHS gaining a 1930s-based mini-land to go with The Artist over at Sunset Boulevard. I know there were plans once for something like that with Roger Rabbit way back in the day, but that fell through. Now, this could over a solid grounding point for something like that.

Plus, if we go with that setting, we could design the ride's exterior to resemble Kinograph Studios from the film.

I think the mini-land idea can be touched on along with the exterior description, but with the literature attraction, we tried doing extra stuff outside of the attraction itself and from what I can remember, they saw it as unnecessary given the prompt, so I don’t think that should be a focal point this time around either, but I do agree we need theming beyond just slapping an attraction into a pre-existing land

Oh, yeah. It doesn't need to be a massive descriptor of all its elements, moreso a general description that helps root in the location within the park for this ride.

I think the issue there was the Writer's Club came after the Literature Ride, so it felt like the bulk of the project had already been touched upon. If we briefly describe the surrounding changes before going into the ride-through we should be good to go.

Also Goofy the theming changes I suggested were just to improve the overall region. Give it a bit more flavor: they're already themed to Hollywood, just not specifically Golden Era Hollywood. So if we wanted to just plop them down and avoid any outside fixes, they'd fit way more than Monsters Inc and Disney Junior in the middle of a Hollywood Land.

Oh yeah nothing screams Hollywood like a bunch of cutout cartoon doors hanging around with no context

Yeah that makes sense and works for me! Maybe just include a few cutout cartoon doors for nostalgic purposes 🤣?

Sorry I wasn't getting any notifications for some reason so figured we were all just watching the movie and thinking ourselves.

I think this all looks really good! I like the initial ideas present (especially the projection mapping and it suddenly becoming coloured)!!

Also, I agree with using this area. While I love the Monsters Inc. ride, I don't think it fits "Hollywood". That area of DCA is basically the only area untouched so a little mini-land within Hollywoodland set to The Artist could really work to round out the park!!

Alright, so if there’s nothing else really left to cover as far as the general theme of the attraction, we can go ahead and assign jobs...

Presentation- Outbound
Queue- Dash
Ride Vehicles/Technology- Ace
Ride Scenes- Goofy and Jokers
Concept Art- Goofy?
Exterior/Land Integration- Outbound
Something at the end (gift shop, museum, etc)-

I can do concept art if nobody else wants it, but we still have a couple things available!

I've already written up some preliminaries for the surroundings, so I can work on that! Shouldn't be too much, just a paragraph per location + map.
