Sitting in the air conditioned lobby of our favourite Pigeon Forge hotel, scamming their free wifi!

I’ll save the Titanic Museum pics until later, but I’ll post Old Mill Inn lunch pics now.

We were lucky enough to get a window seat.

Having lunch with Mike, and also another one of our favorite Sagateers?;)

Photos are now allowed in the Titanic Museum … sort of. You still can’t take photos on the first floor, which is the “museum” part, where the bulk of the artifacts are located. Photos are allowed once you reach the recreated $1 million Grand Staircase.

I wanted to recreate the hand kissing scene, but Mike would have none of it. (I’m reconsidering making room for him on the door, should the situation ever arise.)

It’s linoleum! The newest and most expensive flooring material available when the ship was built.

They rotate a different sector of passengers/crew to honour on a regular basis. Last trip it was the musicians.

They appear to in the middle of switching from honouring the Irish passengers to the Jewish travellers. Most of the artifacts relating to the kosher kitchen were on the first floor, but I took some pics upstairs.

“Get out of the door. They’re closing the doors!” (My heart still pounds during that scene when the stokers are trying to slide under the iron doors before they close.)

The water is COLD! 🥶
Jack wasn’t kidding about it feeling like a thousand knives stabbing all over your body … or in this case, my hand and forearm.

This exhibit used to be a recreation of Lady Duff Gordon’s room - “She designs naughty lingerie, among her many talents. Very popular with the royals.”

Now, it’s designed to recreate the Straus suite.

The third class room and galley were on the lower level, so no pics. This is a recreated first class passageway.

We were supposed to get up EARLY and go to Paula Deen’s for brekkie this morning. Unfortunately we both drifted off watching the recorded Jays game around midnight. Woke up at 1:00 fully refreshed, so we were up until 3:00.

We’ll plan better for tomorrow.

In the meantime, we’ve got a prestigious mini-putt tournament on tap for tonight. I’m kind of over coming in last, so I’m mentally talking myself up.

Interesting (albeit very sad) turn of events.

The lovely people behind us have had a death in their extended family and have to get home to look after their grandson.

They are paid up until the 15th; they are not requesting a refund; and have offered their site to us.

We’re thinking about it. For a few extra days anyway.

Nope. Spoke too soon. The campground said no … because of insurance purposes. 🙄

They also wouldn’t give Lorraine and Bill a refund. (Trust me, I tried to get them one.)

I put my wheeling and dealing hat on and negotiated a credit for their 9 unused days; good for this site only, expires one year today.

It’s better than nothing, given that they were just going to walk away from it.

Does this count as my good deed for the day?

That kind of stinks that you couldn’t use their site, seems simple enough to transfer it. Especially since it is because of a death. Seems like the campground would have some sympathy. I’m glad that you were able to get them a credit. I’m sure they appreciate it.

You're a very kind person! A very good deed indeed:joyfull:
The cynic in me thinks the line about insurance is a fib because I've paid for other people's stays at various locations including a campground. Granted the site was a tent site but still:cautious:
