One potential concern for Erebor. Dragons.

I stand by LOTR is very different from How to Train Your Dragon, and the two lands will feel very different to walk around. Smaug is a vastly different kind of dragon as HTUD. BUT when you have such a huge property as LOTR, I think it would be a mistake to use Smaug at all for Epic Universe. I worry it may raise a few concerns from Average Joe on why there are two e-tickets focused around two very different dragons (and take into account Gringotts, from another park, already has a dragon encounter).

That's a good point... do you have any ideas on what we could do instead or would you prefer to focus solely on a Moria attraction?

I do think Moria would work best. If we wanted to tie into the Dwarven history ride, we could say after Gandalf defeated the Balrog and Sauron's forces were decimated, the Dwarves felt safe enough to return to Moria once again. You can now explore it and it's all safe... or so the Dwarves thought... turns out, that Balrog had a friend.

That way we can still have the "Dwarven History" part of the attraction before the Balrog crashes the place and we flee to the lower levels, where there's some hide and seek actions before a proper chase and, eventually, Gandalf the White's arrival to vanquish yet another Balrog.

Love that idea! If you want, you can develop that idea further to work with @PerGronStudio on the Dwarf portion of the land! That's such an awesome idea!!

Is this a walkthrough experience or a ride? If it’s a ride, whats the ride system?

I think we're still talking about the story telling roller coaster? It may have changed though...

Maybe themed it to four person seated mine carts. For the system itself, I’m thinking a Mummy style would work with an initial practical effects dark ride segment followed by roller coaster. Then it ends with a short set piece of YOU SHALL NOW PASS!!!

I could see that working really well! If the ride was like you described, that would fit perfectly!
