The Shire:

  • Entry through Bilbo Baggins’ Hobbit hole
  • Green Dragon Inn Restaurant
  • One Ring Mad Tea Party type spinner
  • Great Eagle Astro Orbiter spinner or themed simulator ride (Think Flight of Passage)
  • Another kid-centric attraction?
  • Various shopping and food stalls themed to festival celebrating the fall of Sauron
Rivendell:

  • High end themed restaurant, emphasis on immersion
  • Water ride through LOTR story
  • Stuck on shopping… thinking about a customize-your-own Elven bow
Moria:

  • Ride through as suggested by Outbound and PerGron
  • Vulcania-type quick service
  • Retail options?
This is a brief overview of what I think is being discussed... I updated the Great Eagle ride to give us two options... I like the FoP idea but it may clash a little with the idea of the Hobbits throwing a celebration. Let me know what you all think and especially your retail/restaurant ideas! Thanks everyone!

Wow, a lot has happened while I was asleep (living in a GMT+8 timezone here)!

The Shire:

  • One Ring Mad Tea Party type spinner
  • Great Eagle Astro Orbiter spinner or themed simulator ride (Think Flight of Passage)
  • Another kid-centric attraction?

Hm, HtTYD land is rumored to have a motion simulator ride, so I think a Flight of Passage-style ride for LotR land might cost us points for creativity. How about we revisit that proposed flying dragon-themed coaster from Beastly Kingdom and repurpose it for our own use? For the kid-centric attraction, we could use the Great Eagle Astro Orbiter spinner idea (since I doubt kids would be able to ride the coaster with the height requirements).

Maybe we can have a shopping experience in Lothlorien? Guests can avail gifts similar to the ones received by the Fellowship of the Ring from Galadriel prior to their departure.

Moria:
  • Ride through as suggested by Outbound and PerGron
  • Vulcania-type quick service
  • Retail options?
I suggest we provide different retail experiences for the kids and the adults. Tying into the Dwarves' expertise in smithing, maybe the kids' experience will be similar to the Build Your Own Na'vi Necklace from Pandora, but will be blended with the Droid Depot experience from Galaxy's Edge. Have them create a design for their own jewelry (perhaps... a ring with customized designs? 😏 Then one lucky guest will receive a One Ring design at random) and other items of art. The adults' experiences can have the create-your-own-armor/weapon experience (similar to the Savi's Workshop experience).

Alright, good morning team, I love the unification that happened last night. I agree with @Outbound that the dragon doesn’t fit now that I think about it, but that’s okay, we can just stay firmly in the post-War of the Rings timeline.

For the entrance plaza, you enter into The Shire. We could theme this to either Hobbiton or Bree, but since we’re entering through Bilbo’s hollow I think we stay with Hobbiton. We could have a little festival with the flat rides we were discussing and possibly have Gandalf’s Fireworks at night here. Then we have a path going through a Forest with some thematic elements.

Out of the Forest you enter the main land. I say it be Rivendell with massive the Misty Mountains behind it (think the mountains in Galaxy’s Edge). Here we have our river ride going through the history of the War of the Ring, akin to this sections’ Forbidden Journey.

Leave Rivendell and head down the Mountain range through some more scenic areas to get to Moria with our Mines of Moria attraction.

Personally, for the Mines of Moria, I think we should do something more like Dinosaur than a true coaster, but maybe we could find a way to combine the rocky bumping of Dinosaur with coaster elements and create a wholly unique ride system. I do like the concept of a second Balrog vs Gandalf the White though.

I think the big thing we should do first is divide and conquer. Using @goofyyukyukyuk17’s outline, there is plenty to work on, and even if we don’t go with all of it, it’s a good start.

So since we have our three sublands, what does everyone want to work on? There are 10 of us and three sublands, so basically I think we should divide three people per subland (maybe one person who is very familiar with LotR with two who may not be super familiar) and have one person who can fill in gaps where we need them.

So basically state where you want to work, either Shire, Rivendell, or Moria, and we’ll divide you up

Should I be oversight/filling in holes, or would that work better for someone unfamiliar with LOTR?

As Team New School, we all have lots of room to grow. Teamwork is essential. So for this round I would like to take a page out of James G’s playbook and be the “unofficial team editor”. After you post your part of the project, I’ll read through it and add my suggestions: grammar, structure, detail; whatever. You‘ll have a 100% control over whether to use my changes or not. That way, we can make a stronger more cohesive project together.

Sounds good! I’ll lead the Moria team since I had the ideas for the Mines of Moria ride

Another point to consider: our presentation. I’m thinking a flip book would be nice, breaking down the new land in an advertising guide similar to @D Hindley ’s final SA6 project.

@PerGronStudio , are you creating the map? I recall you saying something about it yesterday. If not, all’s good, I can make it instead.

I’ve never done a map before so I’d love to do one if that’s okay. Try my hand out at it

I’m good with that

I’m happy to help wherever needed... not sure if I’d be more helpful with big picture since we’re going with my 3 sub land idea or not... I’m not too experienced over here so if you all think I should be doing that, I’ll happily do it!

My LotR knowledge is fairly limited (though the LotR Fandom Wiki pages are a great help so far), so I'm fine with helping out with anything. Though, it looks like I'm having more ideas regarding the retail experiences than the rides themselves (especially for the Moria retail). The rings that the guests make can interact with objects/items in the lands (e.g.: One Ring will plunge the Lothlorien shop into eternal night, Nenya will restore the light, etc.). It will be similar to how the interactive wands work in Diagon Alley/Hogsmeade.

So I think we should do this a little differently where everyone is pretty new to these types of comps. We’re gonna do it in the classic way of everybody claims some things and works on them that way. I have compiled our main list of things we talked about. We can add/subtract to it, but in the meantime, feel free to claim things. More than one person can work together on something as well.
