Survivor: Cambodia- Second Chance

Oh yeah, Vanuatu completely slipped my mind. That and a few other early-middle seasons I don't remember that well :p
But I agree with @PUSH, it always feels like a forced story. Plus, I always think that men and women together makes the dynamic much more interesting.
In Yau-Man's first season they did the ethnicity theme, and that one felt very forced, too.

Yeah, I remember that, and I agree. Often when they do themes like that it just doesn't feel right. The last few seasons though with BvBvB and WCvBCvNC I thought worked well though.
I think the themes of earlier seasons were more obvious, and it really didn't affect anything. These ones have a more underlying meaning, and they've been much more interesting. I'd also say BvBvB had an incredibly strong cast, much like WCvBCvNC. Blood vs Water 1 had a pretty good cast, too, but it can also limit the cast's strength as we witnessed in its second edition. For seasons like that, I think we almost need returning players and their loved ones. That way you can ensure there are strong cast members.

I think I have seasons mixed up. Yau-Man was in Fiji, and the ethnicity season was Cook Islands I believe. Fiji was the one where they had the "haves" and the "have nots", with one having a terrible living environment, and the other one had pretty much a 5-star hotel.

Yeah I think you're right. And then Panama divided them into 4 tribes of four based on gender and age.
Honestly...they were really trying a lot of gimmicks back then :p

Cook Island was the ethnicity one, which gave us a great cast, but I felt the gimmicks took away from what could have been an even better season. Parvati (who was bland during that season), Penner, Yul, Ozzy, Candice... all very good players.

I thought Cook Islands was one of those seasons that is really interesting if you're watching it live but really underwhelming if rewatching/watching later after already knowing results. The reason I say this is because to me it seems like it really relies on twists rather than the characters, and the "origin" if you will of some of the popular returnees is pretty disappointing IMO. Parvati and Candace are pretty dull, and Ozzy really doesn't get much screen time at all and doesn't win that many challenges (all of the Ozzy hype at the time I don't really get tbh). Penner, I will admit though, had a great season :D I just found that overall it seemed really poorly edited.

I didn't know all of the twists going into it, so it definitely made it more interesting. But I agree, without those twists it would have been a very bland season. But it's crazy how many interesting characters that season produced, whether it was in that season or future seasons.

No idea why they all voted one way... I mean sometimes I wonder why they split so much... But not at all? Very odd. I didn't focus too much while watching this epi so don't know how they settled on Kelly.... But my God will someone put ciera out for us?

I can't stand her whining about no one playing etc... Just because no one wants to team with YOU doesn't mean everyone is coasting or not playing/thinking. I wish someone would just call out her bs at tribal.

I love how people think because they didn't get voted out that makes them some badass player... Or getting targeted is because you are a threat. No sometimes it's just someone else is more annoying or a bigger thorn... Or sometimes you just are in the way.

I do wish we had more insight into camp life...and why people aren't searching all the time of idols. Someone sees you? So what.. No biggie if everyone does it

In Savage's exit interview, he cleared a bunch up in terms of split votes and idol hunting.

Savage wanted the split vote, but others in his core crew of him, Jeremy, Tasha and Joe thought it's very risky to split votes, especially with so many people not in the top of the group. So they decided to go straight with the votes, which backfired.

As for the idols, he said people were always looking for them. But nobody but Wentworth or Jeremy knew if they were even in the game, and they didn't let anybody know. Savage said him and Tasha searched for a clue or an idol during the reward for a long period of time, but couldn't find anything.

I don't see Jeremy going to the end... He doesn't get people loyal to him. I think Tasha is a threat to go deep.. But I do wish people would just flush Abbi and Ciera already. You can't count on them for votes or anything so don't even try to form a new alliance with them. Use them as fodder while forming better bonds with some people in the bigger group. It's always stronger bonds.. Not just numbers early that get people through

Anyone remember last season, also at the final 12, when Jenn, Joe, and Hali, the three people in the minority alliance, played the idol to take out someone from the majority? I think Joe could tell the future:

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Yet Survivor
Ends up with Joe getting immunity again. Love him but this is getting old.
No, what's getting old is my top four favourites getting eliminated one by one.
RIP: Varner, Terry, Savage and Wiglesworth.

Gooooooo Jeremy and Keith.
And goooooo away, Ciera, Abi and Kelley with the extra "e"!

This whole 'the game is being redefined' angle is stupid IMO. The idea of shuffling every 3 days isn't sustainable.. and is the entire reason the alliance concept was BORN in the first place.. and why people have stuck with it all these years.

The idea the game is changing isn't happening... you're simply forming alliances no one is respecting and staying true to.

They think they've just invented the idea of casual sex or free love... Their ideas will start crumbling as we whittle down to 8 or less.

I love big moves, especially when my favorite players are on the winning end. The alliance of 9 was not sustainable. Spencer was for sure on the bottom of that 9-person alliance. I think Jeremy made a silly move, as he's the clear target if this is a new 6-person alliance. But as I've said before, there are no true alliances this season.

I enjoyed Wiglesworth a lot more this season than in season 1, but she wasn't in my top favorites. Spencer and Jeremy are my favorites, along with Wiglesworth. The only one I am slightly disliking yet this season is Stephen, but his advantage is huge. I can see him using it to take out Joe, should he not have enough votes.

Another one I don't care for... Kimmi. She is so stuck in the old-school ways. Zero chance of winning if she would even make it to the finals. I also think Keith would have been perfect for old school Survivor. He just isn't the kind of person to keep up with the new school pace.

Here are my power rankings that I did last season. I would have started them earlier, but the merge was way too large to keep up.

1. Kimmi
2. Abi
3. Keith
4. Tasha
5. Stephen
6. Jeremy
7. Ciera
8. Spencer
9. Kelley Wentworth
10. Joe

I only put Joe at 10 because if he loses immunity, he's the clear target.
