Strongly Considering a Trip to WDW: Please Help me plan or talk me out of it

So have you made a decision about the trip?

No ☹️. Have to see what happens with my bro in laws work schedule as going without him and my sister is not an option. Need those child switch partners! Disney needs to offer professional Child Switch CMs an an option. Also a little concerned with my daughters apparent teething. Not to mention all of the other stuff I had mentioned being concerned about last week. I’m going to play it by ear. I’m willing to even let Disney collect their balance for the trip in a few weeks and then just canceling last minute if need be. Of course, I need to book the flights sooner than later.

Haha yeah I understand. Hope you can work something out with your BIL

Thanks!

On another note @GrandCanyonConcourse , If the Jim Hill rumors are to be believed, Ratatouille should be opening at Epcot in the next 6 weeks. Not that it’s a game changer as most people don’t have the greatest things to say about it but it would be cool to be one of the first people to ride it at WDW. Of course, I wish it was Cosmic Rewind or Tron opening instead.

Something to think about it now that I don’t feel that I have to wait for the perfect time to visit WDW anymore. If I can wait another year and a half both of these new coasters will be open, mask requirements should be gone and my kids will be older. Of course crowds will be back and so will FP+ but that could be a good thing. With that said, I have a feeling if DLR opens up I’ll get my fix there out of convenience and keep kicking the WDW trip down the road.

That’s true! If you don’t mind FP+ then it’s prob fine if you wait. Personally I enjoy FP+ as it guarantees me of the rides I really wanna go on, even if I need to burn one on a ride idc about

agreed , I am allergic to lines and FP is your friend. In my approx 15 trips to WDW, don’t think we ever waited more than 20 minutes for ANY ride - late summer and dead of winter this had been easy to accomplish

FP+ being gone would arguably be a perk for me personally. I know some people love FP+. I do not.

Ratatouille is quite bad but may at least shorten the Frozen lines a bit!

Definitely try to hit WDW at some point even if this trip doesn't work out, if only for something different.

Do you think they ll bring back FP+ anytime in the next few months? I wonder if their is any upside to cancelling my Late February reservations and rescheduling for early May after Spring Break. My one concern is the humidity/ heat in Orlando in early May as masks will undoubtedly still be required. I’d imagine 40% or 50% capacity (assuming it goes up by then) with FP+ > 40% capacity with no FP+

I wonder when they plan on bringing it back. 50% capacity? 60% capacity?

It’s kind of crazy how Disney is giving the WDW guests absolutely nothing as a trade off for dealing with all of the hassles right now.

-No FP+
-No magic morning
-No dining plan
-No guaranteed ROTR boarding pass for hotel guests
-Wait times are ok but capacity continue to goes up with wait times following
-Plexiglass obstructing view on attractions
-Mask requirement
-Inconvenient mobile ordering process
- Virtually no entertainment
The list goes on

And for this what do we get? A few hundred bucks off a vacation costing circa 6k.

Obviously the demand must be there and they know they can bank on enough desperate people to fill up their capacity at the parks.

I predict FP+ back around summer but that’s just my guess. It could be gone til 2022.

Yeah, if that’s a deal breaker than I’d try to book one ASAP

I just might do that. Late Feb isn’t looking good. Just need to see what the cancellation policy is for May. I noticed that the current lax cancellation policy ends on 4/30. What was the standard cancellation policy in pre Covid times for a full refund on a vacation package? 30 days before check in? That wouldn’t be too bad. It would give me until early April to see how things are going.

Gators are awesome.

Someone from California would no doubt love to see some real live Florida alligators while in town.
So it's not a deterrent....it's probably being viewed as a plus!

( Remember - always have a few marshmallows in your pocket if you go near any bodies of water at night time! )

:)

What’s Disney’s plan with removing Magical Express? Seems like it will be a lot more inconvenient to get to WDW for families like mine with two young kids that require car seats.
