Rumor Stitch's Great Escape Replacement— Don’t Hold Your Breath

Depends how you defined 'abandoned' and how much is left in the Stitch space. I mean, it's not *abandoned* if the space is completely gutted, which I don't know if that's the case.
Yeah considering work is presumably being done in there right now, I wouldn't consider it abandoned. You have to have 0 work to be abandoned. Or at least that's how I think of things.

Maybe we can make a new category, just like how there's dead malls (malls that are empty but still operating/being worked on), these are dead rides.

Just the fact that anything is left in the condition to be considered abandoned at WDW is beyond comprehension. I am all for new builds (they are necessary to absorb growing crowds and encourage re-visits) but TDO needs prioritize filling the space/buildings that once held attractions...just MHO...

The general rule has been to leave the building/materials in place until they are needed for something else. Why waste the money to demo it if you aren't going to use it?

The strangest example, of recent history, is Food Rocks. The queue for Soarin went right through parts of the old theater, so they built a wall in front of the stage and just left the stage, with all the sets still in place, behind the wall.

I didnt realize that was left like that...interesting...
Anything of value was removed, but a lot of the stage, a lot of the larger cut out props and some art was just left standing.

The systems in that show (like Cranium Command) are/were so old, I amazed there was anything of value, beyond the archive collection. I would guess that a lot of the items and systems taken are for parts in other outdated/analog attractions. Im guessing that the parts that control many of the classic rides are increasingly difficult to come by without a bunch of custom engineering, design and fabrication.
Off topic, but I was just wondering how much of Epcot or MK have transitioned to fully modern/digital command and control systems...I would guess a ride like SE is a tangle of modern digital systems layered over some truly "ancient" analog systems. The amount of software and hardware engineering to get those systems working together must be staggering.

Food Rocks still contained lifts, wiring, circuitry.... not just plywood. Stuff that looked useful but as you said was of no use elsewhere. Fun fact; when Tiki Room went UNM the actual new show ran locally. But DACS still operated the preshow timing, the doors, the house lights etc. They had a ball trying to make the new SCS interface with the 1971 environment controls.

I think the entirety of innoventions west, minus character spot, is more recent than that.
It closed fully a couple months before Sum of All Thrills, but was used for the Epcot 35th merchandise booth depending on how technical you wanna be about whether a single day counts as it not being abandoned. Other than a handful of technical things being removed it's all still there I'm pretty sure.

Stitch, Food Rocks, an entire EPCOT pavilion, innoventions.....
it's ALMOST like they know that people are so malleable that they can manipulate the public into forgetting that they're paying WAY more for a good bit less.:greedy:

You do know that Food Rocks was replaced by a guest favorite: Soarin', right?

And yes, while it's odd and disappointing that Innoventions and SGE are going unused, it's extremely unlikely that they will never get a replacement.

But, keep trying to spin that we're constantly losing stuff when Pandora replaced a temporary M&G, TSL replaced actual back stage, they added the Sunset Theater, and TRON and Guardians are adding to the parks' footprints by taking over unused land.

A billion for Pandora, a billion for SWL, a billion for Epcot 2, a billion for the 50th and a billion for infrastructure. Eventually they will get to the minutia.

All of those are gone because they were bad or mediocre in the cases of food rocks and innoventions (later years). I'd say park guests are getting more of their money's worth with these attractions gone even though sum of all thrills was a real loss.

I agree with all of that minus Guardians, since that’s replacing Energy. Sure, half of it is being built on unused land, but it’s still taking the place of an existing attraction (like Mickey & Minnie).

You can add the Lightning McQueen show to the list though, since I don’t think that building has been used for non-upcharges in awhile (and still is? I’m not sure what the timeline for repurposing that building is going to be).

I would disagree with both your view and the other view...TDO is spending a ton of money on "upgrades" and additions. The valid question isn't "Are they adding more?", it is "Are they adding Value/improving value?"

Its highly subjective and I would guess the overall score would be pretty close to the middle. There have been clear downgrades (JIYI, SGE), clear upgrades (TSL, Avatar, SWGE), debatable sidegrades (TT, Frozen) and questions yet to be answered (Railway, GotG).

Its not a "fact" that things are better or worse, but purely based on point of view and opinion on what type of attraction is "Disney" vs "unworthy".

We've been paying more for less for a long time now. Sadly. But yes, they seem to get away with it. Meanwhile, over in Anaheim (which is far from perfect), their Mickey ride is replacing a gift shop. A GIFT SHOP.

Heaven forbid we worry about capacity in Florida ...
