"Starbright Holidays" Drone show coming to Disney Springs

This looks really cool, I wonder if people would be able to watch from Saratoga Springs, I doubt the music would be played over there though. I just spent the weekend there and having been going to DD since it was built, the scale of DS isn't really noticeable until you've walked through it and looked at the whole thing from across the water.

That is the sound they make. No idea if they added it in post, used a mic that would deliberately pick it up or if the drones they are using are just that loud.

EDIT: This video will kind of give you an idea of the noise generated by a single drone.
You will want to fast forward to about 9:30.

There is no way the noise in the Disney video was from the drones.

You're comparing the sound of a drone RIGHT next to the mic with that of them hundereds of feet away.

My guess is a faint hum is all that will be heard, easily drowned out by the sound of the music playing.

I think Disney is doing a great job with the amount Holiday stuff for Disney Springs. I'll be looking forward to watch this drone show on youtube or on a Disney streaming site when this show starts.

Looks like a great idea!

Also interested if the show and music will be visible from certain rooms of Saratoga Springs?

@wdwmagic was this and the parking garage the big things you suggested were coming to Disney Springs?

It depends on the size.

I have a fairly standard Blade 350 and it is near silent once it is about 30' up, but I am also not running 60 of them at the same time.

The larger 6 and 8 blade drones used for heavier payloads can be quite loud.

I am just spit-balling, but I can not see why they would need to use anything larger than a typical 4 blade drone if all they are doing is lighting. If that is the case, then you will not hear a thing over a soundtrack and normal crowd noise.

I am halfway wondering if the camera they used to shoot that video had a directional or parabolic mic on it.

I have a Traxxas Aton and it's pretty loud. It goes about 50mph though so those blades need to be spinning pretty fast. I can't even imagine what a 6/8 blade drone x 60-100 would sound like!

Isn't the Aton is more of a racing/stunt drone?

Yes...it's more for stunts. (It does have a gimbal that you can attach a GoPro to and can fly in "Film Mode" which slows it down dramatically to keep it level). Personally, I think they're doing this over the water at Disney Springs because I had a "flyaway" with mine just because of GPS interference...I think this is a little test to see how reliable it is before bringing it to the big stage closer to the people.

I think every drone owner has that positively frightening/helpless experience of loosing GPS at least once.

Are you kidding? Of course they choose disney springs? What better way to get locals (this will drive us away from the former Osborne) to disney springs and the already influx of tourists.
