"Starbright Holidays" Drone show coming to Disney Springs

Searchlights that JT insinuated were old hat.

Yes, as beacons for shopping/entertainment districts they are. As enhancements to multi-media shows, apparently not.

I watched the video and they are cool and effective. But then I have learned to expect the best from TDO. Can't wait for RoL.

If all they need to carry are LED lights and some kind of remote control they won't need to be very big or very loud, but the noise frequency can be canceled out with speakers around the lake. Disney Springs is also a good place to do a test run, if for some reason they don't work on a given night, the public doesn't have to pay to get in to see them like one of the night shows at the parks, plus like the coming character meets it's a reason to draw people to the shopping area, and it's also a reason for people to want to stay at the Saratoga Springs DVC across the lake, which is the largest one, but furthest from any of the parks

Color me shocked that they're doing this in a non-gated area like this rather than inside a park (which requires admission).

To me, that either means:
1. Disney Springs really IS doing that poorly that they need to draw people there any way they can
or
2. This show isn't elaborate enough to use as an advertized draw into a park.

Like others here, I also think it's both.

This is a modest test-bed for their newly FAA approved drone technology. And a way to pull crowds to the mall at Christmastime, when malls shouldn't normally be worried about pulling in crowds. The drones aren't just cool to watch, they rise up in to the sky waving a warning flag for Disney Spring' financial viability.

So I'm a sound engineer for the biggest independent broadcast network in the U.K. and we can't do it.

Just saying.
Hollywood baby... no offence, but it's no different from canceling out the noise of helicopters, not many people have a need for that though

Wow! Here I was hoping for a water show, but a drone light show sounds even better.

First of all, what a great decision! This'll surely draw locals and even some tourists to Disney Springs. And the most beautiful part is that it can be (and works better) free of charge, because since you are being drawn to a shopping center, you'll likely proceed to spend money anyway. As time goes on, word of mouth may draw more people to the show, therefore drawing more people to DS. Cycle continues and the place becomes increasingly successful.

In response to @Buried20KLeague and others...
To anyone who believes that it's going to DS because it "isn't park quality," I wholeheartedly disagree. Not only is that a serious insult to Disney Springs, but this show actually makes a ton of sense here, as I explained above. On top of that, all of the other parks are booked with nighttime entertainment, while DS currently has just about none.

Overall, this is great news. They are adding something free of charge to up the experience, and I approve of that 100%. Now I just hope that the actual show is fantastic.

What would you like me to say? I don't think I've posted anything not truthful.
Doesn't answer my question at all. You've talked about other things that are gone (some long ago), but have said nothing about the new show. I asked if you have even one positive thing to say about the new show.

Well, that's weird, as you give us your opinion on pretty much every single thing Disney is doing over the next 5 years long before some of it has even started construction, but not this until you've seen it???? Really??
Really. I know a lot of things but not everything. I only deal in fact.

But we're clogging up the forum. PM me if you'd like.
