Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening reports and using Boarding Groups at Disneyland

They announced the ride was closed for the rest of the day and would not be reopening.

The signs are back to displaying group 53-58 and when I asked they said they're working to reopen it.

it has stopped raining with no more measurable rain forecast today.

It's definitely still raining off and on here...

Plus they haven't sent out the "will not be accommodated" messages to the guaranteed boarding groups yet either. So I'd hold off on accepting what someone random on Twitter said until they have that proof.

Hooray! Let's all keep a good thought for @Mickeyboof and Boarding Group 80, gang!

I'm group 61 so I'm anxiously watching as well haha.

Also hopefully that message didn't come across as rude or attacking. Reread it and realized it could.

No, not at all. And I've added Boarding Group 61 to my ceremonial candle altar I've got going now here at home!

Keep us posted if you find out anything from the CM's about this mysterious rainy breakdown.

Something I have noticed is they keep resetting the virtual queue as well.

It got up to about 56-58, then reset to 53-58, now it's back to 48-58. No clue what they're doing there.

Y’all this sucks.

Yes, this seems very unfortunate. But we're rooting for you and @flutas there at the park!
Because it would seem in bad taste to mix up my usual Sundowner Cocktail and toast anything, instead I'm brewing some hot Tension Tamer tea and tending my Boarding Group Candle Altar here on my end.

It's 5:15pm now, starting to get dark, scattered light showers around central OC, and the ride is still closed...

Agreed. I wish they would honestly say wether or not they expect it to reopen. So far all they will say is "watch the app and the boarding group numbers" to me.

Another boarding group reset just happened. 49-58 now.

Something I've noticed on the back end is each of these resets has a longer return time.

First reset had a 3 hour return, second was 4 hours. Now it has a 5 hour return time.

EDIT: 5:29 and group 59 just got called! Huzzah.

That's very weird. I wonder, is it maybe possible this extended closure is App related? They can't get the App to work and so the whole system is frozen and there's no way to orderly get people into the queue?

Did TDA hire some new tech folks last week from the Iowa Caucus who said they would work for cheap?

From what I can tell the numbers are programmed automatically to “fall off” after their return time expires.

Yep. I think them extending the return time after every reset was to prevent that in a way. That way it took longer for them to call off and have to reset it again.

Once passes got called again the return time went back to the 2 hour mark.

Boarding Group 80 was just called for @Mickeyboof!

And with that, I'm going to go make that cocktail I denied myself a few hours ago when things were much more tense.

And in other happy news, Millennium Falcon: Target Run has had only a 15 minute wait for awhile now. Mr. Chapek would really like you to go ride it! Ahora!

Cheers to everyone who got to ride on this messy day! 🍸

There have been other bad days on clear skies, so, don't know why rain would be blamed for today without some insider confirmation.

It would be nice to get some confirmation, but today just seems very fishy. And it still ranks as the longest sustained breakdown the ride has had since it opened.

This is also the first day that Anaheim has had any rain since the ride opened January 17th. It's been sunny and dry day after day for the last three weeks, without a single drop of rain. And it's just a tad suspicious that today's record setting 4 hour long downtime happened about 30 minutes after the rain started.

In fact, except for 0.15 inches of rain that fell in the very early morning hours of January 17th, the previous rain that Anaheim got happened back on December 26th, 2019.

The second-worst breakdown was a 3 and a half hour long stretch on January 26th. January 19th also had a long breakdown, but it was actually broken into two sections when the ride reopened briefly for about 15 minutes before breaking down again. All the other days had multiple breakdowns, but they only lasted 60 to 90 minutes each.

But maybe there's some other reason totally unrelated to the sudden rainy weather? I'm still not convinced it wasn't just the App crashing and they had no other way to try and get people into the queue without creating a free-for-all stampede. But my first choice is that it was somehow rain related.
