Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening reports and using Boarding Groups at Disneyland

Dude! I was in shock when I left. The ride was so amazing! I’m really considering my second attempt tomorrow. Like how could I ride this just once? I can’t wait for them open the regular queue one day. I didn’t watch any spoilers at all too so that helped a lot.

I'm so glad you made it and that you enjoyed it, young man! You seem like the exact demographic to get a big kick out of this impressive new ride!

The weather took a turn from the last few days of mid-winter warmth and it's gotten colder and foggier tonight, but the fireworks are now lighting up the sky outside my den as I type this so it's not foggy enough yet to obscure them.

Today was a rather good day for Star Wars: Rise Before Dawn until this evening, when things turned sour and the ride was closed for three hours. They reopened again at 8pm and ran until Last Call went out at 8:45pm at Boarding Group 130.

Disneyland was open from 8am to 12 Midnight today....

Woof. My Join a boarding group button was greyed out until backups began.

That seems a little curious......

Group 80!

That is curious. What type of AP do you have? I ask because they wouldn't dare limit access to Boarding Groups based on your level of AP or what type of ticket you have, would they? Could they? Would they be that sneaky?

It's been a rough morning for them, which seems typical for Sunday. Another hour long delay before the ride even opened for the day at 9:05am, and then about 90 minutes of breakdowns before Noon. But they are currently on Boarding Group 56, so as long as you can stick around for another couple hours I'm sure you'll make it!

Tell me this boarding group nonsense will be over in June.

I can't imagine they'll be able to get rid of it by then. It seems like they designed this for the long haul, knowing it would be a year or two before the ride behaves normally.

Just getting the darn thing open on time every morning would be a start. But they can't manage that yet.

This is the first rainy day Anaheim has had since the ride opened on January 17th. I wonder how it's fairing with wet shoes and drippy jackets? It seems to have broken down for the third time today and has been stuck on Boarding Group 58 for the last half hour since 1:30pm.

The park is still relatively busy for a cold and damp Sunday though.

Also, something else is going on at the park this afternoon. Autopia and the Monorail are both "Temporarily Closed", two rides which rarely close. And all three rides in Cars Land are also "Temporarily Closed", Mater's, Luigi's and Cars. Luigis' can't work in the rain, but Mater's and Cars can. Yet all of Cars Land is closed. A power outage perhaps?

My wife was working out at the corner of Katella and Euclid this morning. She came home saying she got kicked out of the Gym.... Because of a Power Outage, That was around 10:30 AM.

The old "I was kicked out of the gym because of a power outage" excuse. I usually use "I didn't realize they are closed on the weekends, so I guess I can't work out".

Up to the thirteen hundreds... maybe... at times... at least...

Very good info! And another bit of math that shows me there are 100 people in each Boarding Group. And apparently that's the number on both coasts, which makes sense since I can't imagine why they would need to change the 100 people per Boarding Group total.

Another lousy Sunday for this ride so far. Ride has been closed for the past 90 minutes. Another round of cold and windy rain showers moved over Anaheim at the same time. Stuck on Boarding Group 58 at 3pm.

So far today, Disneyland has been open for 7 hours and the ride has worked for 3 hours. Park remains rather busy despite the lousy winter weather. Oddly, all three Cars Land rides remain closed, as they have been all afternoon.

So, I got about 60 feet of gutters for my Patio Roof on Thursday, and a 50 Gallon Rain Barrel. Before Noon, it was overflowing.

Really shocked to see how much water has come down in West Anaheim.

Agreed! Here in Villa Park we've had quite a bit of rain, with a cold wind. We were only supposed to get a tiny chance of rain overnight, but the storm seems to have strengthened today.

Meanwhile, on Batuu....

Why would Rise Before Dawn go down in the Rain? I know some of the queue is outdoors, but the ride itself is indoors.

Anyone that can educate me. Thanks.

So let's review today's mess, the first rainy day since the ride opened on January 17th...

Light rain showers moved into OC in the morning hours, with a heavier band of moderate rain that moved over Anaheim beginning just after 1:00pm. So far the rain totals for an official weather station 5 blocks west of Disneyland is 7 tenths of an inch of rain since Midnight.

Disneyland opened at 8am, but the ride didn't open until 9:05am. Then it had a breakdown from 9:30am to 10:30am, and a second shorter breakdown from 10:45am to 11:20am. Then the ride closed again at 1:30pm during the moderate rain, and about two hours later at 3:30pm they announced the ride was closed for the rest of the day and would not be reopening.

Disneyland is open until 11pm tonight, with much lighter rain showers falling in Anaheim now.

My guess? That semi-outdoors disembarking area and exit can't handle moderate rain with a decent wind pushing water into it and the battery charging system shorted out? Or the roof sprung a leak?

Our friend @Mickeyboof was Boarding Group 80 and didn't make it. I'm so sorry! But when you get a chance Mikeyboof, let us know what the CM's were telling you about this phenomenon.

you would imagine they would have planned for this. what in the hell would you do if you had planned your day around this, as well as being lucky enough to get a boarding pass?

Hastin needs to fix his clock, I think he should have said 3;30 PM, because I know what time it is here. And it ain't 4 PM here yet!
