Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Very much we would have. It would have been a natural expansion of Toy Story Land with possible finally the MI Coaster. Now....not so likely.
My source is hinting that MI is nearly flat line. Amazing how rapidly things change. I had been so hopeful on the idea. Still Serpico has not said phase 3 is dead. If fact the exact comment used was "It actually makes sense". Color me intrigued.

Join me, together we can rule the galaxy.
Just a though so bear with me...

Star Tours is a spaceport, most airports have multiple concourses so why not build a 'tunnel' concourse connector from a new SoA show building with 'new' ST show building and a queu attached to the rear of ST effectively reversing the entrance and placing the path into ST behind Muppetland.

Red: Old entrance, queu and shop.
Blue: Concourse A to 'gates A1-A6'
Yellow: Main concourse moving sidewalk.

Effectively this has precedent in MK with SM.

So if not MI and cars what else is being considered all I've heard is IJ and Incredibles not sure what other ideas are being thrown around. Really wish they'd go with MI for years all i've wanted was to ride the door coaster.

Based on what I attempt to read into Serpicos comments, I believe a Pixar tie in is no longer a strong possibility. "It makes sense" leads me to believe it is something we will enjoy. I wonder if a different theme on that water ride is back on the table? That is all and as always, subject to change.

The talk about Indiana Jones made me think... if they really want to blow us away, they could dust off the plans for Indiana Jones and the Lost Expedition, which was the original blue sky idea that became IJA at DL. It featured the EMV ride and a roller coaster intertwined, and also had the DL RR and Jungle Cruise passing into the show building.

Would be pretty cool if they did something like that and had two rides together.

How much real estate would that take up? Sounds pretty darn cool. Is there any information regarding this old project?

Here's a good source I found. you could google and find others.

The size is a very good point though. Probably too massive to put in the front of the park in Echo Lake. Now, if they would consider doing it somewhere in the back of the park (replacing Animation Building/near RnR perhaps) than it might work.

Great article and would be a cool IJ land. It would also bring a water ride to DHS. with more IJ movies coming out, it would be a nice fit.
Edit: What about back in the LMA area?

I hope Florida keeps Star Tours, since it seems possible Disneyland could lose theirs (which is crazy times - Anaheim loves its Star Tours!).

Not saying I like any of this, trying to think practically. But that is one long tunnel/hallway to join Star Tours with the rest of the land, on either side of Muppets area. Or they bulldoze Muppets in 2 to 2.5 years and link a straight path from the land to Star Tours (in which case why re-theme Pizza Planet now?).

Keeping both Star Tours and Muppets seems impractical - Star Tours is so far from the bulk of the new land and Muppets area is directly "in the way" of keeping old and new SW together. But I do hope they manage this, somehow.

We have lost so much in this park, if there is anything pre-Fantasmic left soon, I will be both thrilled and amazed. I welcome a magic Space Mountain style tunnel (or overpass) if it keeps Star Tours alive! ;)

Two things:
  1. I see what everyone is talking about as far as SWL being placed directly next to TSL as opposed to Echo Lake/Indi based on the new construction wall image. However, considering the location of StarTours, wouldn't that essentially place Muppet Courtyard (something we believe to be surviving the reboot) on an awkward island of sorts? (The first post on this page offers an interesting explanation around this "Muppets on an Island" issue).
  2. The construction walls use the phrase "Adventure is Near." Could this be hinting at the reimagined parks branding/name? I know Disney's Florida Adventure has come up, however this name doesn't make sense to me as California Adventure has a California focus. I don't think they are planning a Florida-focused park, particularly considering Disney Springs reboot. But I do think they are hinting at adventure-something; perhaps Disney's Hollywood Adventure or Disney's Adventureland? Thoughts on new naming/branding, particularly given the construction wall signage?

Bear in mind the water element was the pre existing Jungle Cruise.

For more info on the non water version google the proposed DLP version.

And SWL placement continues to be a pain to nail.

Boy, do I wish that would happen (even though it's been made very clear by insiders that we shouldn't expect it). However, I'd place the entrance in the far-west-side walkway between Adventureland and Frontierland, and make it a prominent structure like the version at Tokyo DisneySea. Otherwise, too many people will pass it right by without realizing that it's an e-ticket.

Also, any new addition in Adventureland should be an excuse to remove Aladdin, and make Adventureland once again an immersive environment.
The layout I used is one posted by @marni1971 that shows an actual expansion pad considered by Disney. Plus I think the area you're describing is part of the parade route.
