You know what's funny?
Jim is currently getting roasted online for this tweet:
Haven't seen the fandom this united against a take in a long while.
His last sentence just isn’t accurate.

Well I know who didn’t get all the coaxiumIt's incredibly contradictory. How many attractions have characters we've never heard of or met before? Heck, the original Star Tours famously had one.
How many of those attractions did Jim work on, if any?
Now if you want to say "I wish they put a well-known character up there" sure, have at it...
I think they still might've gone with Hondo for an OT based version of the ride. He was alive during that era & I think an animatronic of an alien is going to look realistic longer than one of Harrison Ford front & center.I think it should have been Chewbacca. I don't care about Hondo one way or the other. I knew who he was, so it didn't bother me that he was there. And my goodness, what a fantastic animatronic! Almost makes up for the mediocre ride within.
But this brings me back to the point that this whole land should have been themed to the Original Trilogy. There's a timelessness that the Sequel Trilogy just doesn't have, and so Galaxy's Edge is already stale.
How do you say "coaxium" in Wookiee-ese?I think it should have been Chewbacca. I don't care about Hondo one way or the other. I knew who he was, so it didn't bother me that he was there. And my goodness, what a fantastic animatronic! Almost makes up for the mediocre ride within.

I think it'd make more sense if Disney's focus with Star Wars was solely on the sequels. I could see why they'd do it then since that's their version of Star Wars, it'd tie into what they were actively doing with the series. It is still insane that they built a Star Wars land without Vader, Luke, Han, and Leia.
WDW has Mando and Grogu meet as well, so yeah.Seems like the Canon timeliness of ge is no more and they use it as more of a star wars land now, at least in CA.
You think Chewbacca should have been the one to explain what the ride is about?I think it should have been Chewbacca.
Yes, I understand him. Don't you?You think Chewbacca should have been the one to explain what the ride is about?
Hey, there's no reason to get all personal like that!
