This Could be said for any major opening of any major attraction ever. It will be jam-packed, overly priced, and things will be spoiled. But that's what theme parks are.

Well sure. But IMO, there are some things that just don't lend themselves well to a theme park experience. Disney's working SO HARD to push the Millenial "interactivity" thing at all costs. I guess I'm just not sure why they're so insistant.

They're describing something that's more akin to a boutique experience... And instead it's going to be in a land that will surely be shoulder-to-shoulder packed for a decade or more. I just don't know how you overcome that issue and really make it a worth while, personal-feeling experience (as opposed to a conveyor-belt feeling).

Unless, like I said, they attach a major upcharge to the experience. Which I expect.

Money will most definitely be involved in some capacity

I get what you're saying and perfect world, we would have gotten a SW 5th gate with each land depicting a different iconic planet/time period instead of a single land.

But since we're not, I think it makes sense to create a new (but familiar) immersive setting and story rather than picking a single iconic location (thereby leaving out all of the others) or a jumbled mishmash of "greatest hits.". Plus, who's to say this new planet won't be featured in a new movie like Ep. IX?

Sure, a third ride would have been awesome, but the paradigm with these newer immersive lands seems to be 2 or 3 rides with plenty of dining, retail and themed environments to explore. Hogsmede (the land that arguably started this very paradigm) only added one new ride to 2 existing re-themed rides and Diagon Alley only added 2 rides (1 of which is shared with Hogsmede and is technically transportation); both areas are universally-praised, so I see no reason why SW Land can't be as (if not more) successful with its 2 rides. Besides, @marni1971 says we're getting a third ride in a future expansion.

Regarding the time period, if they had set this during the OT, I imagine most fans would have been perfectly happy. However, it would pigeonhole the land and rides a bit and would restrain the storytelling possibilities more than setting it in the new movies would.

As a fan of all-things SW (I literally grew up on the OT), I am not at all disappointed by this. In fact, after 40 years of the Empire vs Rebellion on screen and 30 years of it in the parks, I'm personally excited for something new. Just because you don't like the post-RotJ setting, doesn't mean "any fans of the classic or prequel trilogy" are, as well.
Good post.
They don't want to put you in a place where the story has already been told.
This way - the way they are doing it - there are the back stories, plus the current land that you are in.

I think we'll get what I drew.

I know what I based it on.

That is helpful. Your drawing fits the cleared land. The model looks much more spaced out. The pathways in your drawing look like they are sized similar to Pandora's, the pathways here look twice as big.

Maybe they just expand the pathways so that people viewing it from above, etc. are able to see the buildings more clearly, as opposed to it all being smushed together. I just hope this model doesn't contain tons of buildings and design / theme elements we end up not getting.

concerning the overcrowding issue. They should limit the amount of entries to the Land to a certain number at a time. Not sure how one can be immersed with hordes of people in all directions and a lack of space around a guest. Too bad they are more likely to allow overcrowding which will make it impossible to find a time with less people.

I believe it's a bit of artistic license. As they say.
But, but... it's concept art and it will be what the art shows. There is no way they can alter from the advertised concept. o_OThose scamps at Disney could be politicians. Remember the rule of thumb... Believe nothing that you read or hear and only half of what you see. You will never be disappointed following that thought. It never stops amusing me how so many people take advertising so literally. A lot of what is going to happen in SWL is going to depend a great deal on just how good your imagination happens to be.

They were doing that with Pandora, so I'm assuming they'll do it with Star Wars.

So, what happens to Launch Bay building? Also, if they do move Star Tours, that could be made into a Indy ride no? If memory serves right, isn't it right next to Indy Stunt show?

The word on the street has been that Launch Bay will eventually be re-purposed. Perhaps a Monster's inc ride is one of the things people have said I think. I could be wrong about that though. And as for an Indy ride, my goodness man, that would pretty much end me. My heart can't handle getting Star Wars Land, a Tron mini land, and an Indy ride at WDW. I'd go out happy though...:joyfull:

I'm skeptical about this whole "Galactic Credits" thing and your reputation affecting other aspects of the land. For one, they keep re-using the same example (whether or not you damage the Falcon). Sometimes, companies keep mentioning the same idea because they don't want to give too much away. Other times, the one example is all there is, but people imagine some massively complex system that never materializes. Do you guys think we're getting the former or the latter?

The "Credits Thing" was done in the Harry Potter land in Universal...

I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer here... But it's a LOT of brown. I'm sure it'll look impressive in person, and I get that a lot of Star Wars worlds are that way... But geez. It just doesn't come off as warm or inviting, I guess.

It also doesn't seem like there's going to be many ways to avoid the Florida sun.

Think of the major areas we've seen in Star Wars, how many would be categorized as "warm or inviting". You basically have desert, ice, swamp, lava, sky, and rainforest planets. None of those are particularly hospitable.
