6 rides if we're counting both east and west coast of Star Wars land separately + Avatar.

What would New Orleans Square x 3 adjusted for inflation come to today?

Yes, I am talking about the internal transportation system. To quote MiceAge article from January: While big E Tickets and an efficient timeline on major projects is appreciated by Disneyland fans, a few of Chapek’s other demands are not as customer friendly. The third attraction in Star Wars land, an internal transportation system of sorts, was cut from the budget recently after Chapek demanded cost savings. WDI was sent scrambling to find a way to put it back into the project as it was designed to bring kinetic energy to the sprawling land much like the Red Car Trolley brings energy to Buena Vista Street, but Chapek won’t budge on his budget mandates and something else will need to be cut in order for the third attraction to survive.

$2 Billion for Avatar and Star Wars with 4 rides in total.

Um, what the heck is it being spent on?!?! I don't think rockwork is that expensive.

Well, I believe that it has been said that the Alcatraz ride could end up being one of the most spectacular Disney rides every built across the globe. Using tech as seen in Shanghai's PotC, coupled with a trackless ride (multiple levels?) and a ton of AAs, I could see that ride costing a pretty penny alone.

Marvel- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 comes out in May, Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out in July, and Thor: Ragnarok will be released in November.

Quick correction: Spider-Man: Homecoming is being produced by Marvel Studios (and is part of the MCU) but is being paid for and distributed by Columbia Pictures (Sony). So, Disney won't be advertisement or other promotion for the film, Sony will.

I can't remember the number of AAs, but I'm sure that the majority of the money is going into Alcatraz. The queue itself is supposed to be super interactive too, right?

Right. I keep forgetting how the partnership balances out.

The majority of money is definetoy going into Alcatraz. It will be "the Star Wars ride". I will admit, Falcon presents a number of concerns to both my friend on the project, as well as myself. While the transition will be done convincingly, I doubt it will be enough to appeal to the super Star Wars fanboy.

Well that... that makes me sad. Like, who hasn't wanted to fly the Falcon? To me, that is the quintessential Star Wars experience (along with using a real lightsaber). As amazing as Alcatraz sounds, I'd rather both attractions be equally stunning.

That would be $3 Billion with Avatar. It's $1 Billion for each SWL, not both together.
i look at it this way
DA is about 7/8 acres for close to 500 million
SWL is 14 acres that will cost 1 billion similar money in terms of acreage with a lot more rock work
For me it's this way:
Hogsmeade ($250 million), Transformers ($100 million), Diagon Alley including HE ($450 million), Kong ($160 million)=$960 million.

I'm not knocking the projects, just wondering where the money is going. Disney's budgeting problems have been covered by insiders here before.

alright Mike ill bite LOL
you cant count Hogsmeade it already had two rides and most infrastructure in place
Avatar i dont count as 1 billion just because its said by people on this board so i dont know for sure. I never really considered the cost of SWL until Iger came out and said thats what it cost
Kong and Transformers are just individual rides (albeit great rides) but im comparing lands

and im not saying Disney doesn't waste but i think its closer than you may think it is other than maybe just the size and bureaucracy involved in these projects

Oh, I see! Well, yeah these better be pretty amazing attractions. Note a lot of demo and area re-shaping that isn't strictly SWL is being included in this. Though low-tech, I can't imagine the reworking of the Rivers of America & Railroad would be cheap.

I was simply comparing what each is/was able to do with $1 Billion.
