Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

That would be $3 Billion with Avatar. It's $1 Billion for each SWL, not both together.

For me it's this way:
Hogsmeade ($250 million), Transformers ($100 million), Diagon Alley including HE ($450 million), Kong ($160 million)=$960 million.

I'm not knocking the projects, just wondering where the money is going. Disney's budgeting problems have been covered by insiders here before.
I agree with both of you to an extent, but as @twebber55 said, most of Hogsmead was there before the change. They simply put up Hogsmeade facades over the quick service place, added a bunch of stores and rethemed the 2 coasters. The only thing they really added was Hogwarts/Forbidden Journey. It was an on the cheap, dark ages HP addition to reinvigorate the parks. It worked.

Transformers and Kong and pretty much just buildings they put on a small plot of land, so there wasn't much theming to do around the ride itself (besides the queue and facade).

Diagon Alley is the only thing here that is comparable to a Pandora or SWL. So yeah, the cost of Pandora and SWL is a little out of Whack.

However this is really just beating a dead horse when we talk about this as WDI is never going to learn to conserve money and UC likes to save money, so they can make money, so they can build more. It's a completely different way of thinking that the two groups have. WDI is so broken, I doubt it will ever truly be fixed in a way that will satisfy fans.

That should prove to be interesting. Lifts on a trackless ride. Man, I cannot wait to see this (but I guess I have to).

Well, Transformers: the Ride at Uni already utilizes an elevator lift system and while that ride is not a trackless ride, I'd imagine the conceptual difference wouldn't be that significant. The bigger question (in my opinion) will be if the fact that you are on a lift will be disguised by facing you towards a screen during the move (as it was on Transformers... to the best of my knowledge, that ride was only made two stories to conserve space) or if they will try to incorporate the moving up and down on the lifts into the story-line of the ride.

I believe Martin has indicated that it will be part of the story.

Not your money, but it's what keeps ticket prices skyrocketing, in-park food/drink prices rising and the source of the recent increase in upcharge events.
Maybe, but when they had several years of adding next to nothing the prices of tickets and food still went up.

I think there's a bit of faulty logic (or wishful thinking) when people assume that if SWL somehow only cost $500M instead of $1B then that means Disney would add additional rides/attractions/lands. More likely they would just buy some more stock back. I say let them spend a billion+ on what's green lit and we know is coming to WDW and just make it great.

I'm under the impression that a guest will pilot the ride and have some impact on the movement.
Then you are under the correct impression.
If I can't bark 'Great, kid, don't get cocky!' at some excited kid who shoots a tie fighter, then I don't see the point of the ride

(before someone thinks I'm serious, that was mostly sarcasm)
You will... If you win the initial battle of who gets to pilot out of the group.

Reviews for Rogue One are coming out. So far, I've read a mix. 2 good (one expressed that they liked it more than TFA), 2 okay, and 1 great (provided by Wil Wheton).

Here are a couple collections of reviews, if anyone is interested (plus a more detailed review from the AV Club that has a couple minor spoilers).
