Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Couldn't they essentially have a walking path route around Muppets that drops you off at Star Tours? Essentially blocking your view on both sides so Muppets isn't an intrusion. Something like this:

This could be the path that blocks your view:

That path takes out Mama Melrose, which is supposedly staying/being re-themed. Also, it would be odd since it would take you to the back of Star Tours (and whatever goes in Backlot Express).

It's more likely IMHO that if they were going that route to put a dense path in between Muppets Courtyard and where Sci-Fi Dine-in is (basically, the bottom of the current NY Street). There's space there to do a built up path. I'm skeptical of a SoA placement for Star Wars, but if they were doing it that way, it would enable them to theme the area around Star Tours as a different setting (Tattoine, maybe?) from the main part of Star Wars Land and even use a different setting/timeframe (Original Trilogy, consistent with the timeframe of ST's story) so they could put in characters that fit better with that time frame -- Vader, Boba Fett, Yoda, etc -- in that area.

Well they changed the rest of the ride. If they really felt that this was a big issue, then they should've just built a show building over the back part of the track and tunnels over the front part. And don't make the excuse that the redo was before FP+ because it was right before and designed with MagicBands in mind.
You can't just build tunnels over a ride track. Engineering is a little bit more complicated than that.

Well diagon ally uses tall facades and narrow streets scapes so they where able to create something big and emersive in a smaller space. And could shape it akwardly.
Hm, the land may be this in part, but probably not as a whole. Anyways, based on what you described, they may be able to create a tight and subtle transition between the two lands.

To me the SOA theory would seem more logical from a theming standpoint. Because I don't think Disney would want the land open to echo lake. It would be easier to hide SWL behind muppet courtyard. But both seem possible right now.

As long as Star Tours is a part of it, then I don't care where it goes.

We know a number of insiders have said that Star Wars is probably going in Echo Lake, but I thought I would put together a list of what I see as the pros and cons of each location...

LMA:
- Easier to hide from the park entrance
- Attractions are already closed or scheduled to close, does not require even more to close
- Fairly open space to work in

Echo Lake:
- Direct connection to Star Tours
- Allows for back of the park to be used for staging
- Develops the front of the park before the back, making construction easier
- Can easily expand into the parking lot to increase the park footprint

It wouldn't.

The way it was explained to me is it would reuse, part use, or use a version of the existing Indy grandstand berm as a natural looking wall. Entry would be around either side of this. The echo lake side foliage would blend into the more manufactured landscaping of SWL.

Makes sense to me. There is already the two paths into the land (the main one that goes to Star Tours already and the smaller one next to the IJ merch) so it would be easy to adapt. This would preserve the restaurants next to the lake, which can be "incorporated" into Hollywood Blvd as their land quite easily.

@marni1971 do you know what the plans are for Sounds Dangerous in that case? It's kind of in an awkward spot.

So pretty much a wall of trees on top of a wall. Just like Disneyland?

You may know more than me, but I thought the idea looked plausible.
It's a structural issue, particularly the outdoor portion. Think about the energy that is released/created/whatever by a car going that speed when it passes you on a highway, and how you can feel the air that's displaced if you're standing on the side of the road.

Then imagine trying to compress that so that the car can travel inside a small tunnel throughout the whole outdoor run and what issues that could potentially cause, and you've got an idea for why that'd be difficult. Is it possible? I'm sure there's some way to make it happen. Will it? I doubt it. I think if there was a solution that kept the ride entirely indoors, they would've taken that route from the beginning.
