I don’t agree with how Kennedy has handled the franchise but I can agree with cancelling Star Wars Weekends. I thought it was pure cringe. “What if Star Wars characters did the Macarena!! Lolz juxtaposition! So random!!”
Palpatines Hoopla was a bit over the top. Although my father in law was over the moon about it and still talks about it today. The concept was fine, it just needed some tweaking, not canceling. Celebrating all of star wars was a good thing and people loved it.

Is anyone else disappointed that Disney won’t let you actually customize your saber?

Has anyone asked to use different pieces from different sets?

It’s so apparent how controlling Imagineering is of our experiences.
Buy a copy of the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game. :p You can customize all the parts of your lightsaber, and each of the sets from Galaxy's Edge are available as options in the game if you find the corresponding hidden chests. I'm torn between cynical eye-rolling about "corporate synergy" and thinking it's pretty cool to use the imagery they created for Batuu in such an unexpected way.

The question I still haven’t gotten a good answer to is why “reimagine” Rise of the Resistance instead of Smuggler’s Run to OT? SR is the ride that hasn’t exactly struck a chord in the way the imagineers expected, whereas RotR has been successful. Spend money where there’s more room for improvement.

Indeed, it would be easier to modify MFSR. And you could even keep Hando since he was around in that era but have Han communicate with you and maybe encounter Luke on your mission (or Vader's Tie Fighter, etc.)

I'm not advocating it, but I would agree that it would make more sense than changing RotR.

Honestly, I think the best idea is to keep Batuu as is - adding in more live entertainment and maybe some more kinetic elements - but use the expansion area for a Force/Jedi type area where you can have Force ghosts and "dark side cave" appearances of characters from the past. Keep the theming/timeline intact but adds in the ability to "meet" OT characters plus adds more of the Force to the land which is needed.

Maybe just get rid of the dance stuff then instead of quitting cold turkey. Most of it was fine imo.

Wasn't a lot of it just convention type stuff - talks, meet actors, etc? Kind of like Star Wars Celebration? No reason they coldn't bring that stuff back if they wanted. I can understand why they wouldn't want the more parody like elements (eg the dance off) any more.

What have I spoiled exactly? and i would be happy to use spoiler tags. i have no idea how those work. if you could explain how they work and how i can use them in future posts i would be glad to do so.
Specifically, details about Rey that are revealed in the new movie. To use spoiler tags, click the "..." next to the smiley face and select Spoiler (or Inline Spoiler if you want it to be part of a sentence instead of a new line".

Then type the text of the spoliler in between the tags.

Also, sorry about the language. It was uneccessary and excessive. It's just that I won't have a chance to see Rise of Skywalker for the first time until Wednesday.

o

well ok. you showed me something new. i will be happy to do so in the future...however once its past the 2nd weekend all spoiler tags are off. once a movie is past 2 weekends i will not use spoiler tags on anything and its your fault for not seeing ONE OF THE MAIN BLOCKBUSTERS OF THE YEAR within the first 2 weeks. that's on you pal.
As a general rule, it's considered polite to use spoiler tags at least until the end of the original theatrical run of the movie, for threads not marked up front as "contains spoilers" or directly related to discussion of details of the movie.

That's true, I guess Hyperspace Hoopla is what sticks out in my mind the most, especially when it made it to the main stage at the center of the park. I hated it and I'm glad they at least were smart enough to take a step back and say "we're not gonna treat Star Wars like it's a big joke like this anymore".

edit: I'll make this joke before someone else can: "they made it a different kind of joke instead!!"

As a regular thing, it was terrible. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't love this bit. I mean, how can you not? They went too far making it a regular show, but as a once a year thing? Freaking hilarious.

Yea it was sort of a mini celebration. They had a parade, a special fireworks show, special character meet and greets and panels with people from the series and autograph opportunities. Not to mention a special store (darths maul) with unique merch. All of which could have stayed as is with just a few minor adjustments. Unfortunately Disney did Disney and cut it instead of adjust. It would be a great adjustment to add it back to the studios.

The Jedi Mickey, Darth Goofy, etc. were also very popular and profitable. While I respect Kennedy’s desire to maintain story integrity, I‘m not sure if that was a good decision. I wonder what Fab 5 character would represent Kylo Ren, weird to think about.

Kylo Ren just looks weird, like he popped out of a rip-off Assassin’s Creed game. Darth Vader is definitely the better-looking character. At least with the mask and shirt on.

Agreed. It’s not like that stage show in front of the Chinese Theater is any better than most of Star Wars weekends.

I’ve been saying all along that they’re going to gradually add in much of the stuff they cut. I believe we’ll continue to see more and more added, and everyone can stop whining about how they’re too dumb to realize the things the land needs.
