Why on earth would you even consider going on opening day?

I don't get it either, I have no desire to wake up at 3am to spend all morning in a packed park. I'd personally much rather wait til the crowds die down and the inevitable kinks get worked out.

But some people just like being first and apparently don't like sleeping, enjoy! 🤷‍♂️

Oh don't get me wrong - I think the virtual queue is a great idea and good way of managing crowds. My point was more around demand for the attraction - you can't equate the 150min wait time to FoP or Slinky, or Hagrids, because there is a managed system to even get in line. I.e. it's not apples to apples. That was my only point.
What’s great as well is that’s 150 minutes of true wait. No Fastpass getting in the way.

In a park with little else to do, SWGE will always look like a victory. Look at the lines for TSMM in DHS versus DCA.

Edit: but that doesn’t solve the land’s poor creative choices regarding content.
DHS has more now to do than ever before. As far as pure rides go, DHS now has more rides than at any point in its history. By next year, it will have 50% more rides than at its peak.

What will be interesting to see is how MF wait times are once they implement FP. Then we can finally put the debate to rest as to whether or not FP increases wait times. (I contend it doesn't although I know you disagree. ). But we will finally have a way of really measuring it.

It's more for the excitement and energy of the crowd.

It's like why do people go to sporting events when they can have a much cheaper and better experience watching on TV at home.

I guess I could see that. There is nothing like going to a big game with a sellout crowd where you can feel the electricity in the air, and then saying 'I was there when... '

I just see going to a theme park as much more of an individual experience. When I'm there I'm trying to maximize my family's own enjoyment in the parks, and excess crowds are usually a detriment to that.

And yet you will pay $$$$ to buy a ticket and waste all that time in transportation going to the stadium and back and waiting in food lines instead of watching the game of the big screen at home with affordable food and drink. Makes sense.
I'm a Atlanta United fan, I ride Marta for free, and pay $30 a ticket. Every person is different and to each their own, personally it doesn't make to sense to me, but if it makes others happy and excited, then that's awesome too.

I measured it when Mermaid opened ;)

Yep, or just go to an event like Not So Scary and watch the wait times on the rides massively drop once FastPass closes and it's only standby.
