I heard everyone working on the site is under an NDA. I have a friend whose partner is on the attractions team doing early prep with the Imagineers. His reply to any detailed question is "loose lips sink ships". Fortunately my friend is a Disney fan and he doesn't want any spoilers.

Yeah, I actually knew several WDI because we used to commute together and it would be unusual if we talked about projects that were in the work.
I did get to see artwork when Tokyo Disney sea was in development as well as some of the many concepts for stuff that was at some point in time proposed for DCA during its makeover other than that we usually stayed away from the topics because of NDA

I love seeing the giant IKEA greet me when I drive up to M&F to see the progress being made but I'm curious how Disney is going to "hide" the Battle Escape structure. Rockwork like the Cars Land view from Harbor Blvd?

I don't see it being hidden at all. Maybe a few trees like Indy's showbuilding has but this building is backstage and really don't need to be hidden like the massive wall at RSR does.

Thanks, Martin!!!
Let’s look at some details....

A is the part built Cantina (TSR of course)
B is a series of 5 interconnected stores
C is a covered seating area for the QSR
D are the two area restrooms (the one to the left is yet to be built)
E is the part built Marketplace area
F is the QSR
It’s going to be quite the sight!

Haven't seen any mention of it here yet, but westcoaster has a new photo update of disneyland/star wars land and you can see that they've started painting the rockwork. Last week it looked white and black, like a base coat of bird poop based on how it was landing on the shaped concrete, or probably more like burnt wood in a forest fire for a better visual, but from tarzan's treehouse now, we can see a bright neon yellow/green coat of paint on the falcon mountain range. Moss-like but brighter. Looks less natural than I expected but also more interesting and alien. That goes for the spires, while the more horizontal connective rockwork closer to the show buildings is more natural for now. And this update was 5 days ago.

The color is sort of reinforces an observation that I've had of the form of the rockwork up until now, which is that a lot of these peaks are sculpted to look like trees. The hollow peak on the battle escape in particular looks like the remains of a tree post-forest fire.

I see this color on the star wars model from d23, but more muted. This could be the base coat. Also, at the tail end of "Fly-Through Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Disney Parks" we see that vegetation will be added to the base of those spires like the mountains of pandora. I don't see room for planters so the vegetation must be artificial.

Wow paint already. This is coming together. It really feels fast for Disney from official announcement.

I really like the way that “plaza” with all the trees and steps looks. The Attractions get all the attention, understandably so. But it’s interesting to think that there will be some cool new atmosphere and places to hang out.

Totally. and we're lucky that our view of the construction site is limited to its backside and its rockwork because it'll keep the mystery alive of the land as long as possible. We can see the aerials from orlando, but those aren't really that interesting without scale. It makes the whole complex look smaller and less intricate than it is, the way that the retail and dining complexes are kind of bundled into 3 groups. It'll take us a long time to orient ourselves within the land and even at that point, we'll likely never get bored, as we haven't grown tired of NOS yet.

Agreed. I think an Alien NOS would be amazing and what we re going to get. I’ve always loved NOS but have enjoyed it even more lately. I don’t know if theming can get better than all those alleyways and how they meet the train station back there next to the “park” outside Haunted Mansion. It feels so organic that it almost feels weird to call it “theming.” I love eating beignets and those “new” mint juleps by the NOS train station. The old mint Juleps with the green syrup were terrible.

What are the new ones like? I think my husband tried one last June at Blue Bayou.

They re good. Not amazing but much better than they used to be. I think they had already switched over by last June. It’s clear now, not full of nasty green mint syrup. They put some fresh mint, slice of lemon and then some artificial flavor I believe.
