How large is the Shanghai Pirates building. It seems to me that is the best comparison to Alcatraz and that attraction is only on one level.

I've said it before but I'll say it again to double down on it, I don't mind if there are screens on Battle Escape, but if it feature a single actor or character on screen, especially ones trying to communicate with the riders, it's an automatic failure in my books. I also want it to be filmed on actual film and use practical sets/models, but I don't see that happening. Screens really should only ever be used for backdrops and windows. Even then, though, I prefer hand painted murals with projections on them to simulate movement like with the Grand Canyon diorama.

Well, they did have some large props being installed in that facility, which is a good sign.

I’d have to believe the same bruh but I saw Marni also outline a diagram showing that only about 50-60 % of the building (my estimate based on his diagram) is for the actual ride. And that post was actually in response to someone saying exactly what we re saying about scale.

On another note the rumored amount of AAs gives me hope that it will be much more Grand. Im getting the feeling that the Q and that grand reveal will be better than the actual attraction.

Marni has never ridden Pirates In Shanghai. I think he’s trying to say the vehicle experience is very reminiscent of Transformers (which he apparently is rather fond of). He’s also trying to clue people into the elevators, which is not new info.

There are big sets, even if the ride just features the AT-AT’s (which it doesn’t), there is nothing physical like that on Transformers.

Finally he is not saying there are not AA’s, he is trying to say his schematics don’t tell him about it. I think the blueprints they receive are never very representative of that portion. Literally a week before Seven Dwarf Mine Train’s soft open both Marni and Spirit were prepping us for fibreglass figures in the mine scene. I think everyone was a bit taken aback that the scene was much better than on paper.

Yep. He couldn't confirm or deny rumors about the AA situation because they aren't in his flow, but he didn't suggest there wouldn't be any. And Magic Feather confirmed that there would be some or many depending on what you think makes an AA an AA.

I agree. I think it ll be more like Transformers on steroids with way bigger scale. I just hope it’s not one big impressive room/ scene and then the rest of the attraction feels like the smaller Transformers scale. Just didn’t like the comparison in any form or manner. Not for the super hyped up brand new state of the art attraction that is supposed to blow us away..

I know he didn’t say that there won’t be any AAs but for someone that it’s in the know I didn’t like hearing that the hasn’t heard of any. If the rumor of their being 100+ AAs is true I’d imagine he would have heard about it.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the Q and grand reveal of the destroyer hangar will be the best part of the Battle Escape attraction and outshine the ride. The Falcon will be probably be more fun and repeatable eventhough it’s a simulator.

Wow interesting that they were so off with the Dwarves coaster so soon before it’s opening.

I hope the ride will be fun on it's own. I hope it's more than just being tickled by seeing a humongous AT-AT and Star Warsy stuff. I'm well past that point, and I don't think there is any going back.

My biggest fear with Battle Escape is that it's incredibly dull and doesn't capture anything I like about Star Wars. If it's seriously just going through a Star Destroyer it's going to suck big time.

It will be interesting how much of the ride is “sneaking around” and how much is simply “get the heck outta here”. Star Wars movies have a lot of sneaking, but that might not translate so well in ride format. But if it’s all “escape!” I’m not sure what they could do add variety to the experience beyond troopers and their various vehicles.

I have to think the words "Battle Escape" implies a certain level of storyline to accompany our journey through the Star Destroyer sets. ;) And there are the transport sequences from and to the planet surface to look forward to, and until proven in vain, I think those will be an efficient tool in suspending our disbelief going in and out of our Star Destroyer experience.

I'm thinking there might be a bit of Star Warsy stuff in the ride ;), but I hope the rides are pitched to be enjoyed by people like me, who like Star Wars and its characters well enough, but couldn't care less about the difference between a tie fighter and a .... (I can't think of the name of any other space ships, but I hope you get my point!).

Met someone that is working in the construction site for SWGE and had lots of fun talking about lots of non Disney stuff.
now I realized that I should have seen how much I could have learned about the land or at least how much of it is done inside the buildings.

I heard everyone working on the site is under an NDA. I have a friend whose partner is on the attractions team doing early prep with the Imagineers. His reply to any detailed question is "loose lips sink ships". Fortunately my friend is a Disney fan and he doesn't want any spoilers.
