I didn’t see the caption originally, but totally makes sense in that context.
This is great news for the fans that have been clamoring for more ‘Classic Star Wars’ presence in Galaxy’s Edge.

I don't know if it even needs to be Mando era Luke, but certainly could be and that would make sense.
It could also be Luke as shown at the end of Ep7, which is right in GE timeline, as shown in this image -
The Mandalorian/BoBF appearance of Luke is 5 years after Return of the Jedi which would put him at about 28yo.
The flashback of Luke when he failed Ben Solo and Ben destroyed the Jedi Temple (which is what the picture @Disney Irish pasted is from, not the end of Ep 7) he would have been about 47yo and has a beard.
Luke in episodes 7 & 8 was 53yo (even though Hamill was 66) and is obviously much older (still with a beard).

Which of the above Luke's seems closest? Let me make is easy for you. He's wearing the EXACT same outfit he wore in his appearance in the season 2 episode of The Mandalorian.

Actually what I posted is from Ep7 (the teaser they had of Luke prior to us knowing about the Kylo tantrum), this is the picture of Luke at the Jedi temple post-Kylo tantrum from Ep 9 -

And mimicking the teaser trailer for Ep 7...They could obviously include any age Luke. They could have 8-year-old Luke if they wanted to. Will they likely go with some 30-year old Luke? Most likely, as they can just use their Prince face character actors to do it. Its the easiest solution and the least interesting version of Luke, so it will probably be what they do. God forbid Disney actually hire an older actor to give us the most interesting version of the character.

Yep, exactly my point, this clip is at the very least an homage to the Ep7 teaser, if not a direct call out to it. My bet is more likely they do go with a Mando era aged Luke, but agree with you its the least interesting version since little is known in canon about that era of Luke beyond what is in Mando.

Your reference is the teaser trailer? Based on the actual movie, the picture you showed....Actually what I posted is from Ep7 (the teaser they had of Luke prior to us knowing about the Kylo tantrum), this is the picture of Luke at the Jedi temple post-Kylo tantrum from Ep 9 -
...was part of the flashback from when Rey touched the lightsaber (psychometry) for the first time HALFWAY into the movie. This flashback is 15 years prior to the sequel trilogy. The same flashback timeframe as in Episode 8.
But in reference to this picture you said, "It could also be Luke as shown at the end of Ep7, which is right in GE timeline, as shown in this image". Not only was it not at the end of Episode 7, but it takes place 15 year prior to the movie/GE timeline.
Now you're saying this picture....
Is from Episode 9 (The Rise of Skywalker) which it is actually from episode 8 (The Last Jedi).
I will reiterate that this version of a 47yo Luke has a beard.
Sooooo......not sure if you are getting things majorly confused in regards to Episode numbering and when things happen, but regardless of ANY of this, the clip Disney showed is very specifically Luke from The Mandalorian. I don't see him putting his hand on R2 as some indication it is mimicking the flashbacks from the movies. In the movies Luke was in dispair...in the Disney clip he is just patting his long time friend on the head.
So my question is, why would Disney tease something so specific just to arbitrarily change it to another version of Luke at the time of the actual meet and greet?

Exactly. Disney didn't spend 4 billion dollars to purchase a franchise, make 5 movies and 13 television shows of their own so that they can showcase Lucas-only created things in their theme parks. They are happy to pay homage to Lucas' work, but when it comes to a theme park land they are going to be focusing on what they created after the purchase, not what they didn't create before it.

Also I've already said that I agree with you, and stated it again in another post, that it'll probably be the Mando era Luke. So not sure why you're asking me further why they would arbitrarily change to a different version when we don't even know 100% for sure it will be Mando era Luke, even though I already agree it probably will be. I'm already agreeing with you, so not sure what more you want?

Please God no. Han Solo would never let us fly his ship for the first thing. Secondly, Disney hasn't mastered the uncanny valley with realistic human AA's, so Hondo's alien look helps sell the illusion much more than a Harrison Ford AA would. And I also don't need two Dinseyland attractions with a Harrison Ford impersonator giving us sass for our haphazard help.

I think we are all just saying that the video clearly is drawing off the trailer in style and presentation and that Mando Luke is the least interesting version of Luke.Your reference is the teaser trailer? Outside of Mando, all of those characters have been around for a very long time. Thrawn was at the start of the EU. Ashoka since the Clone Wars. Even Hondo has been around a long time
We’ve long been just one good season of the force away from them filling back in some of the holes cut out by Chapek.
The Mando conversion of Falcon is great. The Mando era characters and Luke are great.
Give us the training academy, March of the first order and if I’m really pushing my luck the restaurant…

These are long running characters but Luke, Leia, Han, Yoda, Obiwan, and C3P0 are iconic and should have been in the land day one.
It's sad we waited til 6 years in to get Luke and that Vader is in a vacant building in Tommorowland for credit card holding customers only.
