Even then, though, if you get some pilot who spins the Falcon to the point of you want to throw up, it's going to be a problem. I think, ultimately, they can't allow for more than one party in the cockpit. I know that'll slow down lines, but I'd rather wait a little longer than have a terrible ride experience. I will say that being able to control the Falcon will be tons of fun when you're in the cockpit with just friends. I can definitely see this ride being one that groups go on over and over again just to mess around, especially if you can kamikaze into Star Destroyer.

This just isn’t realistic. They re not going to leave 4 empty seats in a cockpit for a party of 2. It would be fun though. It’s kind of like Mickey’s Fun Wheel which IMO is worse than the worst possibility in the Falcon ride.

I wonder if maybe when you crash the Falcon there isn't a sequence where you are floating disabled in space until you are towed back to someplace you can disembark from. They must have thought this through. This will definitely be fun to see.

I believe your "dome theater" revolves with you. IOW, when you board your cockpit you already see the hanger bay out the windows, as opposed the "blast screen" that must be lowered in Star Tours.

Ah, okay. That could work too. What a huge production to get giant movie domes to revolve around though, like a Carousel of Progress on steroids.

I'd still love to know where this footage was being shown, and why the heck no one checked the kids phones at the door.

One of my Bothan spies compared the Falcon ride to a mashup of CoP, Star Tours, and Soarin'. On steroids.

Now this comparison I like much more than Marni comparing Battle Escape to Transformers.

Honestly, while I see some comparisons with Transformers, it's really different in sheer scale and it's at least a generation beyond in theme park years. What I heard more than a year ago was that WED was putting everything in the current (and near future) tool box into Alcatraz and that it would be "the new giant killer in the industry".

Wow. So I assume the cockpit pods revolve into these dome theaters for the main show? Then the cockpits revolve back to the load/unload portion that is mocked up like the rest of the Falcon and you get out through the ship before a new batch of riders boards?

And yet, if this is all supposed to be such top secret stuff, why the heck is Walt Disney Imagineering geeking out with their new toys at Show N' Tell sessions for Fullerton Junior College kids and not asking them to check their iPhones at the door? And now it's on YouTube on a Tuesday night and speeding its way around the Internet to every Star Wars fan on the planet? Seems really stupid of Imagineering and Glendale executives if you ask me.

My guess is because it's pre alpha footage and this is just the tip of the iceberg of what's in store. In other words this little glimpse may not be the spoiler it appears to be.

The controlling aspect of the Falcon is definitely my biggest concern with it. If I'm stuck in the Falcon with a random family, and there's some little kid piloting, and he ends up crashing it right after take off, is my ride going to be over? Is the Falcon ride basically just going to be even more of a glorified video game than TSMM? I'm hoping these aren't the cases, but they're definitely in the front of my mind with this attraction.

I imagine that we might have less freedom flying the falcon than we'd like- that's the only way to make it work.

Another problem- everyone is gonna wanna be the one controlling the Falcon. If I wait 3 hours to ride this thing, I'm not gonna want to have my experience controlled by some random kid.

I'd bet that they figure out a way for every seat to be interactive- whether it's controlling the guns, speed, turning, or something.

That’s what I heard too which is why I was disappointed when I heard the word “Transformers” uttered

Crashing the Falcon will not be done as easily as such things are done in a video game.
I'm certain that the ride will allow one to bang it up along the walls and ceiling most of the way without crippling the flight.
It is after all, a ride - which must continue on and not a video game.

I thought I read somewhere that the footage was released by the company that Disney is working with. I remember reading that it was posted on their site.

My guess is that it is just test footage and that it isn’t scenes from the final program or it’s just a small piece of an extensive footage that can be used

I didn’t find transformers all that great, I really hope it’s better than that.

When I road transformers with friend the wait time was less than 15 minutes. When we got off no one wanted to ride it again. It was just an impressive ride system that took you from screen to screen.
I don’t even remember much about it

Screen to screen.
That is what my family took away from most of Uni.
I don't mind screen systems, for some things - they are the best way.
To do what is required in Flights of Passage and the Falcon ride, it's the way to go.
I'm expecting to be quite impressed with the Falcon ride.
The narrator for the video mentions a projection dome, so it seems that the images will be all around the cockpit of the ride and reacting in real time, with excellent graphics and movement.

Exactly what I took from it except I don’t remember finding the ride system impressive.

Falcon will be more like a video racing game where you can crash into things and spin around and shoot stuff, but, you can't fall off the course or go backwards. The path is on rails, but the rails are very wide. You can do it the smooth way, or the bumpy way.

I think.

Or end the play and start over.
It won't be over 'till it's over.

Big Bird's mechanic is similar to Star Fox in order to keep the show on the road.

The last few pages have really hit the RV system on the head in how it all ties together; but, don't forget the first things that I started sharing about this attraction - it's more than just the RV. It's SWL's Hogwarts Express in that the sum is greater than the parts. The RV system will be great; but, its really about the whole experience of "you are going to actually step aboard the Falcon and fly it" like a Potter fan has in going into Kings Cross and taking a trip on the Express.

Also, don't worry about the Transformer's comparison for Alcatraz. I think it's closer to Spider-man in the blending of technologies available. There is far more to this than just screens. It shouldn't let anyone down.

But what about only one person controlling it, is that true?
