It's this topic of the lead-up and transition areas for Star Wars Land that motivated me to go take a walk in the park yesterday morning. (Well, that and my New Year's resolution and doctor's orders to walk more) I snapped a few of these photos of the Frontierland entrances to Star Wars Land. There's quite a lead up to the various land entry tunnels.

Here's the middle land entrance, along the trail on the backside of the Big Thunder Mt. and over the bridge leading out of Frontierland.

We should save this photo from January, 2018 at park opening and compare it to park opening on Star Wars Grand Opening Day in 2019.

At the spot above the trail has a wide new branch that heads off to the left and slopes downward, towards a train trestle.

But the path currently dead-ends inside the entrance to a cave, beyond the trestle. Hmm....

This reminds me of how Hogsmeade had different things added to it in Japan and Hollywood like the Black Lake and a more forested entrance that in the end doesn’t really mean much. People still flock to Florida.

Then again there’s also more substance to ours than just “ooh, aah, entrances” ;)

You just mean Japan. Hollywood's had nothing added and is the worst in many respects (the smallest, no walk up, poor sightlines). Orlando's was always the biggest. Japan traded a ride for a lake. Not to mention Orlando's approach, even barring the magic of Hogwarts express, has been plussed.

I think we can now all agree the original and bigger version is always the best. Case closed. :p

Meanwhile, on the other side of the land you exit Fantasyland through big wooden gates and begin walking west on the same trail.

You come across a another branch in the pathway and find a path that leads downhill to your right.

Down the hill and around the bend in the trail and you find another big entrance that goes under the railroad tracks above. Darn, foiled again by giant wood walls! That's a piece of Star Wars technology being airlifted by that giant crane overhead, by the way.

Then wouldn’t that be in Florida since we’ll have an entire themed hotel for rich nerds to splurge on vs. simple entrances?

Yes indeed! Really the only true victors are those of us who live North of the flyover states and will selfishly visit both. Spinning slowly into debt for the multi-thousand dollar Star Wars overnight stay and an anesthetic to mask the flight back to Disneyland. I win!

Case re-closed.

Did you find any Star Wars Land rubble on your walk?

I don't know if this has been posted here, but I found this in the WDW thread for the land and it really shows a concern I've mentioned before and that's the scale of this land. Compared to Main Street USA, New Orleans Square, and all other lands in Disneyland, place is way larger. Will this scale difference make the entire land feel completely out of place in Disneyland or will it be smooth? Personally, I think this scale matches DCA far better than Disneyland and it will prove to be a problem.

Well that's funny because I remember when The Tim Tracker, a Florida vlogger focused on Orlando theme parks, stated how he wished that Orlando would have gotten Hollywood's Hogsmeade instead.

He mentioned how the castle in Hollywood is much more imposing throughout the land, especially in the entrance since it is elevated on a hill. Additionally, he stated how the ride profile for Flight of the Hippograff and Forbidden Journey were much smoother and better overall experiences than the Orlando counterpart. His girlfriend/wife also enjoyed the fact that the CA FJ has more dementors than Orlando. He made comparisons between both lands and was more impressed with the Hollywood version.

Keep in mind that some sightline issues will be fixed as the trees mature and grow. Anyways, it's an interesting video. Check it out!

It's a Catholic construction site. The west coast version is non-denominational, so they don't have to worry about those sorts of details ;)

In reality, I think it's to show the scale of the construction workers to get a better idea of how large the land is. Someone standing will look a lot bigger than one who is kneeling. Regardless, as I've said before, I think the scale of this project is entirely inappropriate for DL. It may be lovely and well-themed, but nothing about it seems to fit the style of its surroundings

nice pics

be wary, however...
early recon suggests that cave may lead to some sort of time-traveling wormhole

it's presence in the north american southwest leads us to believe it may be related to our site in new mexico, though we have yet to confirm

caution is advised

Aren’t ALL the castles on a hill? I might be reading that wrong.

I wish we had the dementors.

I find it strange how you guys have such a superiority complex toward a theme park you don't own or anything. I couldn't care less which one is perceived better, I'm a themed entertainment fan and that's all. It's not a sports team.
But what's far more mentally concerning is how you guys make blatantly incorrect statements (and like others' blatantly incorrect statements) and can't admit you're wrong!

there is a lot more room in front of the Falcon ride at Disneyland compared to DHS.
They are hemmed in rather tightly by World Drive

I'll stick to two for now. When I point out how these are factually incorrect, you guys conveniently don't rebuke. Instead you resort to calling me immature names like "Floridian fanboy" and "bad egg." There's a difference between being biased/delusional and factually correct, and if you can't see who's which, you're gonna see someday. You're making yourselves look like idiots, and I don't find enjoyment in seeing that continue.

So I expect apologies and admissions from multiple people in the next two years.
