But there have been several posts about how "no one cares" and "the franchise is dead". The number of internet clicks seems to indicate otherwise.
Yea, I try not to listen to anyone who says star wars is dead or dying. They could screw up rise of Skywalker worse than last jedi, and the franchise will be far from dead. Good movie equals people loose their minds.

Ok, so I've had just over a week to really digest avengers endgame and I keep circling back on something. I have not been a supporter of Kennedy at all. But endgame really hits home how tragically star wars has been handled. Endgame showed us how original characters can be handled and how you can cater to the fans, all while telling a fantastic story. Seeing engame has just made me that much more disappointed that they didn't give Kennedy the boot. I just hope that by the time we see Benioff and Weiss really start production, she is no longer part of Disney in any way. I thought maybe she could stay on the business side, but I now see she can never be in touch with what star wars is. Episode 9 might be good. It might be great. But we will never get the opportunities missed back again. And that very much saddens me.

Sorry, rant over.

So, less than Ragnarok, Frozen 2 (teaser), or Incredibles 2 (also 10 mil less than Last Jedi FYI). I mean let that sink in. I'm not a "Franchise is dead" guy, but if 10 years ago I told you a super hero movie would have DOUBLE the trailer views of the end of the Star Wars saga, you would have laughed in my face. Fact is this trailer has the least views in a 24 hour period of any of this final trilogy views. It's obviously FAR from a dead franchise guy, but the numbers suggest some real damage was done.

Well its hard to gauge it being the trailer made its debut at celebration. If the trailer would have dropped the week before or earlier, I believe you see a huge uptick in the numbers. But you are right, damage was done for sure. There's a lot of resentment with how legacy star wars was handled. When all is said and done, it will be very interesting to see how it all plays out.

Disney has announced three more Star Wars movies to be released in December of 2022, 2024, and 2026.

No word on who is behind them, or if it's a trilogy vs. standalone films.
Since there has been no mention of stand alone movies since Solo, I would be stunned beyond belief if it wasn't the new trilogy. I am wanting the Benioff and Weiss, that would be my hope. Im not interested in a Rian Johnson trilogy so I hope its not that.

We won't know the quality of the film until it, you know, comes out. But there have been several posts about how "no one cares" and "the franchise is dead". The number of internet clicks seems to indicate otherwise.
You may want to read @LSLS s post. People are less enthused about this than they were for Incredibles 2. :hilarious: And this is supposed to be one of the "greatest sagas of all time". Sadly to say for your galaxy far far away, the chickens are coming home to roost. The mehs are strong for this one.

Idk. The Game of Thrones community is pretty mad right now. Seems like they Johnson’d their own thing too now.

They sure did. They took everything that made it "epic fantasy" and chucked it right in the dumpster. Much like good old RJ took a huge dump on Star Wars.

Lucky for me, I love JJ, so I have hope for this final film. I actually am feeling some excitement start to build personally. However I can see why this film isn't generating the same overall level of anticipation. It's hard to get past what RJ did.

There really seems to be a difference between the GoT content based on books vs. when they had to come up with it themselves. Latter seasons feel more by the numbers, still entertaining and appealing to a general audience, but not quite capturing what drew people in to begin with.

I think those guys have the potential to make entertaining Star Wars movies, they just need some help when it comes to developing the stories.

Personally, I'm not too worried about TLJ impacting reaction to RoS. People were angry at the prequels but responded well to TFA. I liked TLJ, it feels a bit like a side story though, and ultimately RoS will succeed or fail on it's own. This is due in part to them not appearing to have an overall plan for the trilogy, but it is what it is and can't be changed now.
