Star Tours 2: Official confirmation - kinda

That's not neccasarily true. Lucas did take continuity seriously. In Episode II' Mace Windu say's that Anakin and Obi-Wan have returned from a border dispute on Ansion' which happened in the novel the Approaching Storm set right before Episode II. Also' Aayla Secura originally from the Star Wars Comic Series appeared in both Episodes II and III and Jedi Master Quinlan Vos also from the comics is mentioned in Episode III as having moved his troops to Boz Pity. So' yes the EU does count as "Cannon" and "Really Happened" in the Star Wars Galaxy.

I will have to do some digging, but I have interviews with both Lucas and Sansweet that date back to around 1997 that clearly state their view on the EU at the time. In fact, The Lucasfilm Fan Club (now Star Wars Insider) did a story on the legitimacy of the EU and basicly reiterated what I said above. Now since then, yes, Lucas has incorporated some EU in the prequals, which I'm sure was suggested by some marketing person to help the brand. However, for example, he completely changed the backstory of Boba Fett in the prequals that was originally written for the RPG. Quite frankly, I'm not a fan of the EU. I'm quite sure if Lucas ever did a post-Jedi trilogy you would see very little reference to the EU. I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas has ever even heard the name Mara Jade, and I'm sure Chewbacca would still be alive and kicking in a post-Jedi trilogy. He's been qouted as saying he doesn't pay attention to the EU, he has even said the EU is "for the fans" and left it at that.

He has confirmed numerous times he is not making more movies so I think the EU is safe' and he has heard of Mara Jade but not of Ben Skywalker.

It's actually in the Video Game Star Wars Battlefront II.:animwink:
And I haven't finished that game, so that would be why. Haven't played it in awhile.

Don't worry, Festivus, I have to catch up on my EU as well, but I have been heavily spoiled by my friends who read faster than I do. I know most of the things that happen, just not when they happen in the timeline.

Lucas also borrowed alot from Zahn's Thrawn trilogy (Coruscant, only a few dark jedis, etc.) and the Dark Empire comics (concepts and very similar scenes are used in the prequels).

Nothing in the prequel trilogy contradicts the Original Trilogy

So you're telling me that in the 20+ years between Luke's birth and Episode IV, Vader's super-old advisers don't remember the Jedi, the Force, or anything else?

I know. I hate that so much.

Or the fact that people who obviously would have known Jedis were real call it "superstition".

I hate Geaorge Lucas so much.

I read somewhere that Lucas actually didn't like the name 'Coruscant' but felt he had to use it because it was so well known at that point because of the Thrawn novels.

Memories *are* short, I've seen it in my own lifetime. Something happens and much later its nothing more than a rumor or distant memory. Don't be hatin'.

You are aware that most people alive in the galaxy were alive the 20 years prior when jedi were alive right?

Even still, in a galaxy of billions of beings, there were only a few thousand Jedi, which is pretty rare. Most people at that time probably never even saw a Jedi, making them almost mythological figures even in their time.

Nothing will ever fix the first Death Star being in RotS. But the thing that I don't get is that it took them 20 years (maybe 15... used to be 20, but Lucas could have changed that as well) to build the first Death Star. Then it only took them 3 years to get 2/3-3/4 of the way done with the Second Death Star. Was that because they already knew what their flaws were from the original plans that took awhile to be fixed while building it (If you are not sure what I am talking about, I'm referring to the novel Death Star), and they could build it faster?

Forgive me if I go off on tangents, that is just me... if you don't ever understand something that I say, all you gotta do is ask!

Maybe this will be answered in the upcoming tv series? I can see some Jedi who survived Order 66 discovering the Death Star plans and attempting raids on it. That would certainly slow down progress.
