Star Tours 2: Official confirmation - kinda

LOL you could easily see the other post in a VERY popular thread here. It's actually VERY public. Don't butt in if you don't know both sides. Simple, and if you can't understand that logic then I'm the last of your worries.

Anyone know about the big Hoth machine (brain fart, I totally forgot name) will be taken down? I find him quite amazing....

You're hilarious. You don't get to post replies to people's messages and then pick and choose who is allowed to post replies to your replies. It doesn't even matter if jt offended you and now you have some kind of vendetta against him. Heck, I can't even stand most of the guy's posts but he has just as much right to post whatever he wants (so long as the moderators don't object!) as you do. As does EE. If you can't take people butting in you should probably stop posting replies to him!

If you find me annoying it's by design. :drevil: :ROFLOL:

Now, back to Star Wars. I really liked episode 3. I hope it is included in ST2 when it opens in WDW's third theme park during the 40th anniversary.

:king:

:lookaroun:lol:

I enjoyed SWIII as well...Felt closest to the originals. And from what I hear, it will be....seeing that ST2 will feature all 6 movies. :)zipit:)

What continuity problems? ST1's backstory works very well, if you know the Expanded Universe.:D

The continuity problem is that ST basically has you flying over the death star in the first movie. However there are some differences as there were no star destroyers at the Battle of Yavin as far as I remember and the way this death star is destroyed is slightly different (The Xwing blows something up on the surface rather than firing the proton torpedos down a hole)

I always just assume the battle at the end of the ride is between the New Republic and the imperial remnant and they happened to get ahold or build a new Death Star (which isn't too far off from the novels after ROTJ).

I'm also pretty positive an ST 2 will destroy the delicate continuity if they add Yoda, Admiral Ackbar, Boba Fett, etc. It will just become a charecter mashup rather than your own personal adventure in the Star Wars universe.

I was always under the impression that ST1 is AFTER RoJ. In fact, I think that that is Cannon.

And I am VERY against it just being a Character Parade...The adventure feel was SO much more authentic.

Interesting points.

As for adding characters, the ride doesn't necessarily have to follow the films. There is lots of space between each one to permit a new adventure(s) that we haven't heard before. I do hope they won't include any of the newer trilogy though. It's a big mess.

Fully agreed. I do think it was either between New hope and ESB or between ESB and RoJ.

You are correct the ride is very much after ROTJ (they make it pretty obvious in the queue)

The thing about cannon though is funny. They actually screwed up when they attempted to make it cannon. In one of the novels it says there was a Starspeeder piloted by Rex at the battle of Endor in ROTJ which is obviously false. I believe the starspeeders are also mentioned in one of the Hand of Thrawn books.

Ah, cool. Thanks.

Maybe he did, it was just a earlier mission? But then again, ST1 is his first journey... I'm thinking the book is wrong.

Yes, they were.

Heh. Thrawn.:lookaroun

Remnant have. OK Holocron Keeper Leland Chee has confirmed that the Death Star depicted in Star Tours is the Third Death Star. (Not to be confused with the Death Star Prototype from the Jedi Academy Trilogy) However there is still no official time slot for ST1 other than sometime after Return Of The Jedi.

I just blame it on too many damn Death Stars.

You keep destroying them we'll keep building them That's the Seperatists logic for Battle Droids' too.

Simple government procurement strategies. 1 giant planet destryoing laser system 1.5b ISK, 4 of them is only 2.5b ISK, all that development cost makes them front heavy :)

L.A.Times has an interview with Iger and in the article it says Star Tours "may" get announced at D23. Not sure if the info is coming from Iger or from reading online message boards.

I read an inteview with Steve Sansweet, and according to him, Star Wars "canon" is the films only because they are stories George Lucas created. Anything else, i.e. novels, Star Tours, comics, video games, etc. are officially considered part of the "Expanded Universe". Apparently, when Lucas was writing episode 1 he was asked if he would take into account any details concerning the EU and his response was no. He didn't care if anything he writes for the new films contradicted information in the EU. His attitude was the films were canon and the EU could be adjusted to fit the films, rather than the other way around. He was not as concerned with continuity as in the Star Trek franchise. If I remember correctly, he came under same fire from fans for his position because of the popularity of the EU. However, I do believe The Cone Wars and the upcoming live action TV show will be considered canon.

Only thing that really bothered me about SW.... The enemies are always SO STUPID.

Battle Droids? Exaust port on a Death Star in SPACE? Putting a UNFINISHED Death Star into combat!?:brick::ROFLOL:

I think that rumor has pretty much been resolved. All parks with Star Tours will be getting the full fledged Star Tours 2. :)

And I take from the LA Times article that Iger is the source. The only question remaining being, is that all that will be announced for WDW?

Soon, we will know soon! :lookaroun
