Wow what a happy guy! His children sound as pleasant as him....I hope someday when I have kids that they will appreciate the crazy amount of money I spend on taking them to Disney as his kids did. :p

For every cynic who hates Disney, there are millions that want to be there. Do the world a favour and stay out of WDW if you aren't prepared to even go in with an empty mind. :fork:

Heck, while I understand the author's comments, it's quite easy to avoid most of the saccharine, toddler-oriented stuff.

I almost forgot... when you read the article click on the words Magic Kingdom (in Blue) the author has linked it to WDW Magic.

Go figure!

First off, the article is written by someone from NJ :drevil:

probably too many bad trips on PATH...

WDW is all about a vacation, but also taking the effort to understand how the place works, where to stay, eat, etc.

I'm no fan of taking little children to WDW, let alone babies who aren't even going to remember what is going on.

We just recently took my 7 year old cousin for his third time and he loved it. We paced everything out during the trip, had rides that he would do and told him there would be rides that we wanted to do, he also had nap time, as well as relaxing in the shade and watched the afternoon parade go by at both MK and AK.

Some kids are going to like, it some kids aren't, same with adults....but until Disney stops marketing WDW has such a happy go lucky pixie dust fiasco, and rather a relaxing and fun vacation kingdom, than I think there will still be quite a few parents and children, unimpressed, or overwhelmed when they go.

Hey there's always Gatorland

Cheap fees, and if parent's are sick of the kids, the gator's are always hungry and the parents can take that college fund and turn it into good ole retirment money. :lookaroun

Not old, just vintage.
What a miserable sounding person. :brick:

However, I prefer that people that miserable stay home anyways. Shorter lines and smaller crowds for me!

"In fact, the heat, the long lines for rides, the $5 hot dogs, the plastic castle, the adults wearing Goofy or Mickey ears.....it was all too much for us."

Apparently it would have been a better trip if it was freezing cold, there were no rides, they gave out free hot dogs, a granite castle, and adults running around naked.

At least we know that they won't be standing in front of the fast-pass return, making the area really congested so no one else can walk through, waiting for their time to show up

Ehhhhhhhh. There is always someone (usually a bunch of people) that have a reason for hating one destination or another.

It appears to be an Op/Ed piece, and everyone has an opinion. What to me is unfortunate about the piece is what is unfortunate about a lot of journalism these days;an article that is hugely biased and offers no contrary opinion or fact.

In this case too I think it is unfortunate that the Star Ledger chose to publish an opinion where the author basically admitted from the get go that they hate the place they are writing about and will not ever give it a chance. The author completely fails to recognize that her bias is influencing her children. How sad for all of them.

I say let the author live in her misery we all don't want misery like that spoiling our magic anyway.

We don't need to defend Disney, The smarta** comments the 11 yr old made make it obvious what kind of people these freaks are. Oh yeah, plus the fact that Disney's the most visited tourist destination on earth might bring into question their statements.

As an earlier poster mentioned: read the responses under the article; most were complete opposite of the article writer viewpoint (and a lot more eloquent to boot). Just a cheap shot, very cheap.

Eh, to each his own. I can see where it's not for everybody. I enjoy it

and don't care much beyond that.

Sounded like to me someone has the case of the Mondays.

Hey more rooms for us!
Less whiny people dampering my great time :)

I love when people whine about the cost-take your kids to a baseball, hockey or basketball game. The tickets are pricey and the food is expensive. Other theme parks are going to be in the same boat and they offer no where near the quality of service Disney does.
