Star Ledger Article "Why I hate Disney Word"

You think that's bad! I acutally took a college course called "Disney Discourse." It went over the movies, parks, etc. To say the least, I don't think my Professor was a big "Disney" fan. She made us read all these books about the capitalism of Disney and Disney parks and how everything is just about money!!:hammer: I was and still am (obviously) a HUGE disney fanatic and she and I did NOT see EYE TO EYE!!!! I got a C in her course (the only C in years!!!). I think I knew more than she did and she probably didn't like that! LOL!!! But learning about the background of the cartoons and movies was pretty interesting though!! People were hate Disney suck!

What a miserable person. And on top of all that misery, poor grammar too!

"He, too, could have cared less."

If this is the case, then there's something else that his six year old could have cared less about than Disney World. Just a little pet peeve of mine.

Besides, if you're going to pick apart our favorite place, be prepared to be picked apart yourself. :)

I "get" what the guy's talking about.... sort of. Some of it.

I've got a thing about crowds. Well, people per se. Large groups of people tend to stress me out and/or irritate the #&$* out of me.

The peroid of "spring break" itself, too, is sort of a poisoned period of time for me. It's sheer definition to me is usually "Wherever you want to go and relax... rest assured 50,000 others got the same idea and are crowding it like mongolian raiders".

...and yet when I go to disney I sort of tend to put that aside. Well, not always. Sometimes I get a nervous breakdown or two. But I still manage to have a load of fun. And if there's one thing I've come to realize about the parks it's that there's something for everyone.

I've got an artsy filmmaker friend I've been working with for a few projects. We always love to have our blockbuster/arthouse discussions, commercial versus niche, et cetera...

He knows I'm a huge disney freak, and even he gets it. He tells me "Y'know, my family dragged me along for a trip, and even though I was resolute to hate the place, as I stood on the sidewalk for mainstreet and saw the parade, and mickey waving at everybody and all the disney characters, I got this chill up my spine. I decomposed myself! I was all like... 'It really is the place where dreams come true!'"

In conclusion, regardless of what this guy says, he really DOES hate disney because he's too cool for school.

The comments after the article were amusing.

I find it funny that she hated wdw SO much, that she felt the need to rant and rave about it. I'm sure she knew she was going to get bashed for that one. People these days amaze the heck outta me...no one appreciates anything anymore. And the worst part is, is that it's beginning to rub off on young children as well.

This is why I don't need to talk to people who don't like disney like I do, they always have something negative to say about why i like like it so much. That is why I come on here (my 2nd home lol) everyday. Because everyone on here is just like me when it comes to the obsession I have for disney. People like that are just miserable and boring. The commenters were all right...STAY OUT OF THE PARKS THEN!! More room for us! :D

there is a local radio spot with 3 kids and there "wishes". all say that their first wish is to no have cancer. Their sceond wish varies from meeting a famous athlete or going to DisneyWorld for the first time.

Puts things in perspective if you ever had the attitude this woman/kids have towards the parks. let them be like they are, i just "wish" that trips like this wouldnt be wasted in hate, but given to someone that would treat it like an honor.

i guess if we lived in a perfect world huh?

there will always be people who are 'tool cool' (ie. too afraid) to just tap into their inner 7 year child. The first poster put it correctly though, she should take her kids to places that she's excited to see and they will be too.

ok well by the sounds of it the parks aren't to blame it's her. The fact that she let her child be that disrespectful is what makes me mad, she is teaching them that it's ok to be rude. If my kid would have even thought about saying something like that I would have come unglued. Of course my kids were raised that you don't disrespect anyone at anytime unless you want the consequences that comes with it. My hubby wasn't thrilled about going either the first time and I laughed my head off when we walked onto Main Street and he looked around said "WOW" and then after riding pirates he was really singing a different tune. It all depends on what kind of person you really are whether or not you will enjoy it. What get's me is if they had already been there and didn't like it why go back? And the money thing, we expect to spend an extra amount of money hello it's called vacation! It's a time to spend money on things that you normally wouldn't. Well from the sounds of it she definitely is no Glenda, maybe she didn't get the hug from mickey as a child that she really needed.

Y'know, I can understand the fact that some people will not like WDW. But to just moan and b#%@* about it without giving any real solid reasons is just absurd. Gee, you weren't the only person at a theme park. Go figure! Oh, and things cost money. Who would guess that? And, I don't know about you, but the last time I checked, most people realized Florida was not located in the Arctic Circle.

It seems to me that the author is just a little too cynical about things and just has to find something to complain about. Hopefully her kids will not be like her (and if they are, thank goodness this family lives in New Jersey.)

And yes, I do realize that I am being cynical by writing this post.

Heyy, what's that suppose to mean??? LOL

LOL Yes, I would like to know what that means too!!;) Let me go on record in saying that this is one NJ family that has LOVED DISNEY FOR YEARS. The more Disney the better!!

All I can say is different strokes for different folks. No need to defend Disney because all of us here love the magic that is Disney and they are the ones missing out on something really nice. But again that's their choice. The thing I find ironic is that there are places I don't care for and I don't write articles about them complaining. We just choose not to vacation there and that speaks for itself. So whatever, LOL.

She says they left the park after "One obligatory day" with "mickey in the background talking to donald, or dopey" If there was a stage show in front of the Castle as she was leaving, and she says her "feet hurt and broken", she must have not even spent much of the day there at all. No fireworks, Spectromagic? She didnt mention anything about YOMD, No talk of Parades? I have to think, this person was not really there recently, if at all. Just wanted to complain, and drag her kids into the argument. This little article sounds of either jelousy that she cant go, or her family forgot to take thier collective medication that morning. And the whole $5 hot dog thing, she must never go to any Museum, Zoo, Amusement Park, Pro sports staduim, or out much, because a $5 hot dog is pretty much the norm for any of these types of places. After going to tons of these places, you find out Disney's prices are really not that out of line compared to the Industry as a whole. So are lines and crowds at peak times of the year. Go to a zoo up in the colder climates on the first warm sunnny day of the spring....you want crowds?

Thats all I have to say about that.

That might have possibly been the worst written ANYTHING that I've ever read ANYWHERE. Go party with that lame-o on MSN that doesn't think much of WDW either. Misery loves company.
