I think the story about her on set and lucas is being all distorted. all she said was she was there in costume... they could have just been doing tests, etc... and people are taking the comments to be like Lucas was there the whole time, or Lucas was there supervising her stuff, or other stuff.

All she said was 'I was there that day that photo was taken in costume'

I wasn’t taking it that way. Just saying that Lucas was there for a visit - which he does often - which would be cool for any actor.

All of modern Hollywood owes a lot to Star Wars/IJA...they are probably the biggest reason we have blockbusters and they all get paid.

It’s also clear filoni is lucas’s “Inside guy” and Disney has made overtures towards him to rebuild his influence.
That doesn’t mean he’s taking over or has any interest in doing so...but they need him as an ally if they are to fix the mess they created.

Honestly...I don’t need him/want him.

The most overrated character in Star Wars not in a JJ abrams remake
I didn't really need it either. But they gave it so now I'm curious what they're going to do with it. Fett is the embodiment of the star wars look and feel. But as a character, you are right, there isn't much. I would have preferred the armor show up but we get a confirmation of him being dead. But maybe this is the lead in to the D+ Fett series.

Fett was a cool, mysterious, unknown character. The mystery was a the draw.

Then the prequels happened...and they took it in a direction a 6 year old would be hard pressed to believe.

But we’ve been down that road before

I forgot about that storyline.

I was just excited to see him as my memories are connected to the original 3. He was my favorite character and I cried in the theatre when he died. (I was only 9! )

See...I was about that age and I jumped out of the car (drive in) when this happened:

It was formative...it never left me. If I need to explain why I can’t ever quite get over Star Wars...that is it. And why I give them unlimited second chances when they have really been STUPID with this for 25 years.

You need to retain a little kid in you. Everyone does. That’s been proven this year as much as any.

Erasure brought it up perfectly upthread: when the dust settles - the two Disney efforts that fans have and will accept and strengthen the franchise by default are mandolorian and rogue one. The feel and the mannerisms are right. That’s really about all it will take.

(Sorry about the cheesy blue lightsaber in the clip...some fan edit nonsense there. The blazing green for the first time was the the most delightfully shocking thing about the sequence. Just brilliant.)

I know we are way off topic, but I'm one of the few that happened to also really enjoy Solo. What can I tell ya - Lando was my second favorite Star Wars character.

We are...but it isn’t Friday yet.

I actually liked solo...much better than the awful 3...but I think the fact that it had so much trouble in production and that fans were pretty ahead of it saying it was a bad idea made it DOA.

It wasn’t a bad/not enjoyable Star Wars film. For the few that watched it

I don't think it's just a few who enjoyed it. I don't know many who saw it and disliked it. Most thought it was a fun, but mostly unnecessary story. It failed because of Iger and Kennedys bad decisions. I was actually surprised Howard was able to pull it together as well as he did.

We know Lando was out looking for things with Luke. So maybe the Mando runs into him if he needs to find another Jedi. And that could bring us to Luke.

I see you’re up for it...but I don’t know how they get to Luke skywalker with this??

Best to leave it alone. It’s over, Johnny!!
