SPOILERS: The Mandalorian Season 2 Discussion

Another fantastic episode- looks like we’re building to a reverse climax to last year with mando rustling up a posse to rescue grogu rather than protect him from moff gideon.

I wonder if once his debt to mando is repaid we’ll get a boba & Fennec spin off show?

Who is going to answer grogu’s signal? Ezra Bridger is the most likely but it could be another jedi or maybe a sith/ex sith like Ventress

too many questions and another week to wait!!

The Jedi are coming...my guess is two

Well, I logged into work this morning, aaaaaannnnd proceeded to watch the new episode because I couldn’t wait (also, hello all, I’m back).

What an episode. I felt literally every emotion. I have gone from “Well I hope Boba Fett is only a one episode cameo” to “this is amazing” (with a few swear words thrown in). The episode’s climax definitely happened 2 episodes sooner than I imagined, as I thought the season would end with Grogu being kidnapped. I guess we’ll be seeing his rescue in the finale.

This season has been incredible. I started watching Clone Wars a few months ago, and I’m in season 5 now. I’ve become a huge Ahsoka fan, and was literally crying when I watched her episode (I watched that one 3 times last Friday).

I think what works for the Mandalorian is that it’s enjoyable for both casual Star Wars fans and those of us that have watched the other shows. I introduced my dad to the show in September, and he’s really only a fan of the OT. He absolutely loves this show. Every Friday he asks me if we can watch the new episode, and I obviously say yes (even though I’ve already watched it). I really think he’s going to love the new one.

So, Grogu’s rescue team includes:
Din Djarin
Boba Fett
Fennec Shand
Cara Dune
Mayfeld (why???)
and even though they weren’t mentioned, I’m going to assume that Bo Katan or Ahsoka will be back.

The episode may have been the shortest, but I actually preferred the pacing. It didn’t feel like there were any unnecessary moments (unlike the season’s first couple episodes that could have used some cuts IMO). ‘The Jedi’ and ‘The Tragedy’ both had massive spoilers in their titles, but I will forgive that as they were two of the best episodes this show has had. I really hope Robert Rodriguez comes back to direct again, this was fantastic.

Ahsoka’s best episode/appearance is actually the season 2 finale of Star Wars: Rebels. She has a five episode arc.

Actually...that last episode (filoni) is one of the greatest pieces of Star Wars ever made...just below the ESB scenes...as far as emotional depth.

It just came to me watching the last two episodes again that the grogu silver bit is basically the same as the pebble in kung fu. Another very subtle homage perhaps?

On paper such a great episode, but honestly I was shocked to see this was the one directed by Rodriguez. The direction was so bland. There was no style and very little creativity to the way these events were depicted. Dank Farrik.
Going to give it a second watch tonight and see if it was just my early morning brain that found this episode so pedestrian.

So no Razor Crest addition to Galaxy’s Edge.

I really didn’t want Boba Fett to survive the Sarlacc, but this person who has the memories of Boba Fett may be okay . I’ll see where it goes, but I am trying not to get too attached to Mando’s friends because I’ve watched to many Joss Whedon things. I am getting a little too much of The Operative out of Moff Gideon, and I keep expecting, “When your quarry goes to ground, leave no ground to go to.”

I actually never liked the ship...but they’ve used it enough as a decent plot ploy. But it’s also “enough” now.

I was thinking about boba fett.

He’s never actually been a “bad guy”...as i’m Sure filoni would point out.

He’s just a contract for hire. As the Mandolorian was/is still essentially. That doesn’t necessarily make him “evil”. He just worked for villains.

So he’s basically like IT for Walmart/Amazon 😎

One of the weird things about Star Wars is that a lot of the ships that are treated as unique are not really unique. The same model of ship could still be added and fit the very specific timeline.

They could also just casually make a hard left turn away from abramsland...as they seem to be doing with this show...

...and get back to the proven era/timeline that sells product. Because that was the entire point of buying the thing in the first place.

Just a crazy thought.

It's kinda starting to lose me. One of the reasons I liked the series so much was cause it avoided a lot the pitfalls that the other Disney Star Wars stuff has fallen into so far, namely not being a rehash and not being too fan service-y. Mandalorian is kinda getting that way for me now.
Personally I think the entire show from the start has been incredibly fan servicy as you say. But for me, that's why I love it. As far as the rehash issue, I dont get that at all. The difference so far with Most of the Disney star wars and this is how well the fan service is done. The sequels didn't really respect the fans and therefore the fan service comes off as forced and not genuine. This show has respected the fans, while keeping it accessible to everyone. When fan service is done right, you typically don't know you even wanted it. If you would have asked me before the Mandalorian started if I would want a baby yoda creature. I would have said absolutely NO. Now, I can't see star wars without him.

This episode was great once again, even being so short. If I had one complaint, I wasn't a big fan of the dark troupers design. Not bad, but not great. I loved seeing Boba kick tail, with a gaffi stick no less. What the show does so well, is embrace ALL of star wars past. The I'm just a simple man making my way through the galaxy line was great. Along with the Jango exposition felt right. It called back to the prequels, and that isn't a bad thing. I really just want these last couple episodes to drop back to back!
