Yes, he is the creator, it's his vision. But at the same time, that doesn't make whatever he does great. He created a pop culture phenomena with the original trilogy. Of course it's his choice what he does with the franchise moving forward. He has zero obligation to the fans. But guess what? The fans have zero obligation to like what he created, especially if it isn't even close to as good as what came before. So do people on a message board know more than Lucas about star wars? No. But we know what horrible acting and dialog look and sound like. We also know what happened in the OT so we know all the contradictions Lucas gave us in the prequels. So in a way, the fans do know more about what's best for star wars. Lucas will never admit he might have screwed up with the prequels because he is still so mad at the fans for the backlash he got. I still think it's part of the reason he sold it.

We are all free to like or dislike anything he does, I was only noting that he gets to decide what is appropriate in terms of content.

I also don't buy he doesn't listen to the fans, the prequels did get better.

I’ve really came round to the prequels. To me they get better with each viewing and watching through the clone wars on disney+ has helped to strengthen them. Nothing is perfect but they are enjoyable and add a lot more to the star wars and jedi mythos than the originals in many ways.

I think Lucas did listen to fans when he crafted them - Jaja getting a reduced part, Chewies cameo and Jango being the clone template were examples of good ways he tried to build bridges to the original movies. To me it worked in a much better way than disney did when for no real reason Han had become a smuggler again, Leia a restance leader and palpatine came back.

to me nothing will ever beat the excitement of seeing the original Star Wars as a three year old at the cinema but the prequels and the Mandalorian do take me back at times to that feeling of excitement that little me felt over 40 years ago

I really hope this isn't another 30min episode. I don't feel like they can wrap things up in less than 45/50 min. And I REALLY don't want a bunch of loose end, and then have to wait a year to get answers. Lol

Any predictions for the season finale? Almost guaranteed we see Ahsoka again. And maybe Ezra, Thrawn?

Well that’s what I thought 3 episodes ago...

But how? That’s too much for the time allowed. The shows have been getting a tad “wooden”...that much stuff would be on fast track to wood with loose ends. You know that that sounds like?

If its an hour long episode which it should be there should be enough time for Ezra who will probably make his grand entrance at the end to save Mando and Grogu. And Thrawn could just be a tiny cameo at the end showing he was the one pulling the strings the whole time.

I don't think we'll see Ahsoka again, her inclusion earlier in the year was more to launch her upcoming series that playing a big role in this season IMHO. More likely to see Bo Katan I would guess if they bring back anyone else from earlier this season.

I do think we'll see whichever Jedi responds to Grogu's intergalactic message.

How is introducing Ezra and Thrawn jumping the shark? Its what they've teased and setup earlier in season.

Because if the dialogue is insufficient, the pacing is off, there are unnecessary diversions or similar dead ends....it’s moving towards the realities of 7 of the last 8 (some could argue 8) Star Wars movies released.

It’s gotta be good...the label on it no longer matters.

It’s only been since 1999

I think you’re right...sure seems like all those character name drops are for new D+ series...undoubtedly mandated by Burbank. Hope that doesn’t knock this show off course

This is my thought as well. I envision something similar to Thanos at the end of the 1st avengers movie. He just turns to the camera with a menacing look, and that's all you need. Or you just see his back as he looks out of his stardestroyer.

If they did bring in Ezra, Ahsoka and Thrawn..., I wouldn't say it jumped the shark. I would say its just poor storytelling. Too many new characters at once, very rarely goes well. You're right, keep it simple, tell a good complete story, and I'll be happy. Bring Thrawn in as the last thing you see before the credits roll as a great tease for next season.

Just to be clear: I’m not talking the fonze in classic sense...

I’m talking game of thrones...when the pacing is off and/or the story becomes disjointed...it just kills the whole show. It becomes a chore to watch and the good will built up is eroded

Well they need a Jedi to respond to Grogu's message. Ezra seems the most likely outside of Luke and Cal from fallen order. Plus Ahsoka knows Mando now and may join Ezra in the final battle to help out. I dont see how thats poor story telling. Their just utilizing the characters they've introduced.
