The line “If you draw a weapon on a Jedi, you lose” could indicate that revealing oneself as a Sith and engaging in a lightsaber fight would reveal the existence of the Sith to the Jedi. Even if the Sith should come out the victor in any given encounter, the big picture of staying in the shadows and working in the shadows would be thrown away. This could be a threat to the Jedi and their plans, and could threaten the long-term plans of the Sith.
This interpretation helps to keep the connection with the line said by Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi in TPM, ‘The Sith have been extinct for a millennium.’
This paper explains the Sith’s plan as not to fight the Jedi directly because they did not want to be discovered. Hence, why the Jedi did not know of their existence for a thousand years.
This enables Acolyte to continue with the Sith’s covert operations and avoid contradicting the previous canon where the Sith are unknown up until the prequel trilogy.
This paves the way for potential sequels that could see the build up to TPM with the secrecy of the Sith.
