closing this before tron sounds unlikely I think. You'd lose a massive attraction and have no replacement. If they want to take their time and do the ride justice, I just don't see it in 2024 at this point. Disney doesn't seem to have the deadlines they once had.

Watch it be something like love and we're told how it's been inside of us the whole time
I must admit that I laughed at that suggestion, but now I'm worried that love actually seems plausible. I can imagine her going through the ride looking for that special spice that will make the dish just right, having some revelation with Mama Odie, going over the drop, and then sailing into that final showboat/party scene with all her friends and co-workers where she realises that the secret ingredient that was missing all along was love. And maybe unionising.

By the way, they had years to prepare to show. I really can't believe we didn't even see an animatronic or no closing date.

I don't think Disney is known for giving fans far notice for closing dates. It would probably be very last minute when we head the date for Splash Mountain's closure.

Did they back peddle though? Ever since the announcement they had a blurb about the retheme on the parks websites. If they really wanted everyone to forget the best thing to do would have to removed that blurb from the website after the normal maintenance was done. Or tell Seacreast to not mention anything about the ride during his interview.
That is true but that seems very logical ..and in my opinion Disney has not done anything logical for a while ..so yes I honestly think they were just hoping people would forget that it was announced because it was not mentioned for a good two years after it was initially announced… My whole point is is I think it’s a mistake

What are the odds we get a silent shuttering of Splash during annual rehab time?
That was exactly what was going to happen… But because Tron will not be ready until spring of 23 I believe they’re going to let splash ride it out until the end of the 50th anniversary.. so after March say goodbye to splash Mountain hopefully… Because they just may shut it down in January and keep it down… I don’t have a timeframe on that yet

"Tiana is committed to serving the best food in Louisiana to her guests, so she started her own food company ensuring only the finest ingredients are used in her restaurants" is a much tighter and stronger line than she cares about the "community neighbors" and "Co-op" those are modern marketing ploys shoe horned into 1920s
Community neighbors and co-ops are ”modern marketing ploys?”

I have thought that given the controversial nature of this whole thing they actually wouldn't want a rush of people for one final date and that yeah, they would just silently close it like that.

This is Disney. There's gonna be a huge merchandise/marketing push... even though it's 'controversial' (I have yet to meet someone who is actually offended by the ride, but that's a different conversation)

The most surreal part is how Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah is apparently being erased even though it was one of their most well known songs and probably the song they remixed the most into things (at least it is up there).

"Have a Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, tip for today!"

"Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah! Zip-A-Dee-Ey! My oh my what a wonderful day, remember that Disney magic! Remember the Magic! Remember the Magic!"

Does ”erased” mean “not not used anymore?”

I’m sure the song inspired by the salt mines that support the empowering food co-op will surpass the charm and timelessness of Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah!

And if it doesn’t, fear not! Plenty on here will act as if it does!

Looks impressive, but how can they make this about salt mines?
