Could you be offended by something? Sure... and you should do what most people do, vote with your pocketbook and don't go back. Pretty simple, and doesn't impact anyone else. Should Disney respond to anyone that is offended, No never because if they do they only increase the probability of more offended harpies jumping on Disney for something else that they find offensive. The better tactic is to ignore them. God knows before the virus Disney was not having any problem attracting guests.
In my opinion, Disney has more than just the immediate bottom line to consider. Park attendance is up. Splash Mountain wit times have consistently been high. Yet the association between Splash Mountain and Song of the South is a huge liability for the parks. They're working to mitigate that. This change has the potential of elevating Disney's status with a generation for years to come.

I know you’re trying to be optimistic but this is really painful for me and that pain is not going to go away with a new version that doesn’t have the songs, design, and characters that I’ve grown to love. Sorry.

If it's any optimism, this is at least several years away, if it even does happen. Make your next visit count!

My ealiest relatives came to the USA on the second voyage to Plymouth, Massachusetts. I have had relatives fight in every war the US had and on both sides in the civil war. I love the American Experience and the HoP and hope they are not changed. As I previously posted I love Splash Mountain. I also love Frontier Land and TSI. However, maybe WDW can not only redo Splash Mountain but also BTMRR and TSI into a new land based on PatF. Put Tiana's place on the island and turn BRMRR into a Dr. Facilier ride. I think if Disney wants to do right by Tiana, just changing Splash Mountain is not enough given the area.

It’s more than enough.

The Princess and the Frog is a good film, hopefully the re-theme of Splash Mountain is a quality one and the new attraction is a successful one.

It’s not a good enough film to completely overhaul Frontierland and pretty much kill the land off. Re-theming Big Thunder Mountain would be a horrible idea - The Princess and the Frog needs to fit thematically into Frontierland, Frontierland shouldn’t be altered thematically to fit The Princess and the Frog.

Okay, I would say Mario is a bad example that you’ve given either way. Because I haven’t actually seen too many people get offended by that. It’s a bad example because black people and slavery has a deep root in America which has affected the culture. And there’s a fight to move away from it. This really has to do with racism in America not so much every other issue that people could be offended by.
Maybe most Italians have more pressing concerns than being perpetual crybabies.

This post indicates to me that you don't understand the perspective of those who are saying they are hurt by the ride's association with the film.

I am a liberal. I think publicly displaying the confederate flag is terrible. I also think parts of our history is terrible and it’s about time the real Columbus is portrayed to those who didn’t know his doings. However, changing this ride due to a vocal minority is wrong and dangerous. Will me having the picture below on my wall be seen as flying a confederate flag? I hope not. What about wearing a Splash Mountain shirt at the park? Will you get asked to turn it inside out? What’s next on this slippery slope? Tom Sawyer Island? Some of the parts on the railroad? Country Bears? Come to think of it, the golden age of Hollywood was racist, sexist and full of violence. You couldn’t be LGBT and if you were pregnant and not married the studios would force issues. Let’s get rid of Hollywood Studios too.

I better take my picture down. Again I am a bleeding heart liberal and I have these views. This is scarier than the virus.

Exactly. And I think that's the point many of us have been trying to make. This is a very slippery slope where ultimately no one wins, and the change solves nothing.
