Posting from the very same phone now. I love the hardware but software wise it is soon loaded down with Samsung apps and features that it loses its androidness. Also minus huge points for coming with white headphones and charging cable. Yuck!!! Other than that it is light years better than any I-device.

Well I got the white phone so the chargers actually matched but talk about a heavy duty cord! I've tried not to let all the samsung stuff take over yet, I sincerely believe those apps fried the battery on my S2. I noticed my work email is a bit glitchy (exchange based) and I was wondering if maybe it is because I loaded my yahoo account up and they will allow me to view together. Maybe I should just download yahoo and run that email account separate...

Just curious if there was anything newsy coming out from the week and if so, are you willing to share prior to your vacay? or did I miss it's release from another poster?

Not much going down yet ... but there has been a change in Bob Iger's strategy, apparently ... I'm just waiting to see if anyone else is going to mention it before deciding when and what to place out.

There may be movement on something else, but until I get 2-3 sources to confirm, I am not putting it out.

Contrary to the dead Disney CEO, I do work my hardest to make sure the info I put out is accurate.

I have a Disney balloon in my kitchen from Dollar Tree that was purchased around February 15th. It still is about 85% good. For a dollar. ... anyone who buys their kid a $15-20 balloon instead of donating the damn money to a children's charity truly doesn't deserve the money. At that pricing, the only justification is insanity (or, perhaps, a child that just survived a bout of brain cancer or some life-threatening illness) ...

OMG..please...I went through this last month on the hike from Main St to the monorail. I won't do it again.

You thought Disney vs. Uni was a rough argument... Try Apple vs. the others! ;)

There is nothing wrong with meeting characters as adults...

Now obsessing over said characters ... that's a different story entirely and not even in the same bucket. It can be said a mature adult should 'know better' - People can have hobbies and interests... but there are reasonable boundaries.

Yep. I detest character meet and greets, generally. And I think the folks who are waiting three hours to meet Anna and Elsa need to get their heads examined. Utter insanity.

But I can still have fun with a character. I wound up with a friend and Mickey alone on Castaway Cay last year and the Mouse and I had quite a conversation, even if Mickey has lost his voice. It was obvious we were having quite a confab ... especially about the lower quality grade of beef that DCL was serving at Palo and how it likely was a way for Karl Holz to make the bottom line look better. It was loads of fun.

And this January, I spent some quality time with Mickey and Goofy (I think I just missed my pal Donald) at breakfast at the Sequoia Lodge (in the club level, characters wander in and out during meals that are not character meals per se).

But I have never queued up to meet the characters. And I always understand I am meeting a 'friend' of the character's at the time ...

I don't even think I have a childhood picture of me with any of them. I wasn't into them then and not much has changed in that department.

That is the usual definition of a troll.. one who "plays" for responses..
sort of manipulating to see the reactions.
Seems his latest posts were so blatant.. he just missed posting the famous "troll face" with a big "U MAD BRO?"

Yes, I don't get why he was allowed to do his schtick so long here. But he was good for getting attention, I guess.

... there is a culture at Imagineering and in Hollywood ... but it's the WDI part that has Disney Legal reading this thread (wave to the scary lawyers, MAGICal members!)
The only thing shocking about this story is that it didn't happen sooner. Even more shocking would be if it didn't happen again.

Disney knows full well about their 'bad boys' and has been silently cleaning up their messes for decades. But for whatever reason, they've chosen time and time again to keep these oversexed stallions in their creative stable instead of cutting them loose and saving themselves plenty of Disney Dollars in hush money.

If Burbank has a problem with these lawsuits, they have only themselves to blame.

74 - Love your stuff and what insight you bring, but your constant harping on the Defense Industry is rather curious. Hardly anyone who works for the primes or even the subs would fit neatly into your portrayal. Their chief goal, IMO, is to assure that when our men and women in uniform go into harm's way, it is not a fair fight. We want to give our people each and every advantage.

I have nothing but support for our military (if not the leadership that sends them into harm's way often for no good reason.)

And the harping is only in regard to the HUGE increase in jobs (terrorism can be really great for a company, if you are defense contractor, right? do you think anyone at high levels in that business isn't hoping for more bloodshed in Ukraine, so we won't slash budgets?) that has come about post-9/11. That is a fact. It is most definitely, after unemployment, the largest growth sector in the 21st century America and one that has slipped quietly along ... at least until the Snowden release.

Many of those jobs are ex-military, many are entry level to start, many don't require college educations ... in other words, many (not all certainly) of these new jobs (that do pay well enough to take your family to WDW and pay ridiculous prices) are from people who may well have been at a much lower socio-economic level had the world been a safer, better place in the 21st century.

There just isn't a better explanation (I'd love to hear one) for how so many people who look and act like Walmart regulars are suddenly staying at the GF, Poly, BC etc.

I am not trying to be insulting to anyone, just looking at the situation and trying to explain it.

On a side note. Those looking for a comfortable shoe to take to the World or anyplace your vacation plans take you should really look at the Sketchers GoWalk 2. Amazingly comforable walking shoe.

I've always been a New Balance Spirit (and maybe they'll send me some leftover swag from Anaheim since I do have more of a reach than most Mommy Bloggers), but I had to buy Nikes at a Paris outlet mall in 2012 when Lufthansa lost half my luggage for three days and they are damn good for walking and running in ...

@WDW1974 Spirit, I believe you and it is good to know that a lot of the higher-ups at TWDC read WDWMAGIC. Now if only those people would use this fan feedback to make WDW a better place. They may be reading here but they don't seem to be learning anything.

They learn plenty ... what they do with it, however ... well, that can be tougher.

No matter what else is in this thread, the only two things they are likely focused on here is:
1.) is this talk about the WDI/fanboi situation going to wind up in the NY Times and;
2.) is someone going to force them to take action against Jason Surrell;

Anything else ... not so important to them right now.

This is in no way a defense of any of their decision making but...

And really why would you ...?

Why would they? Based on the numbers they are doing well. They weathered a recession and a huge uptick in competition down the road and are still posting a profit. The tragedy of their "unsustainable business model" has been preached here for over 10 years in some way or another and nothing has happened yet.

It takes time to build a company ... and to destroy one as well. Do you think their current business model is sustainable long term?

I'm here, back in reality. I haven't hardly been on this site because it causes such depression after being at the best two Disney parks in the world for 8 days. Actually, 8 1/2. Our last full day in Tokyo we weren't planning on going to the parks, but even after 8 full days in the parks (and 5 in the city), we all wanted one last evening, so we picked up some starlight passes. That's when you know how great a product is... When after 8 full days, you're still begging for more.

Great to hear from you. Been meaning to drop an email, but this works for everyone here!

Did you venture beyond Tokyo at all or just around the city? I don't know that I'd do eight days at TDR, although I'd probably love that. I still think 4-5 days is the perfect amount IF it isn't crazy busy, which it wasn't for me.

If you can overlook the theming issues their Magic Kingdom has (and we EASILY could), those parks are just pure perfection. I sound like a broken record, but everything from the people to the maintenance to the food... Perfection. We thought it was even better than our first visit there in 2008. We found it crazy that at times we had to look for quite a while to find a trash can in the parks, yet there wasn't a speck of trash anywhere. Constant smiles on EVERYONE. Not just CM's, but guests. The parks were packed, and everyone was in a great mood. It was completely opposite of WDW when it's crowded. There, all you see are people complaining, pushing, shoving. NONE of that at TDL. It's fantastic. It really made it easy to accept the crowd levels and go with the flow. How wonderful it is that everyone SITS DOWN for the parades??? And how does one honestly enjoy the MSEP after having seen Dreamlights? How can you not see MSEP as tired, worn, and dated?

Preach to the Spirit for he knows you speak the truth!

I just feel so bad for the fans who think the MK and EPCOT are as good as theme parks get. They have absolutely no clue what they are missing.

But I am also realistic. Most Americans can't afford a Tokyo trip. BUT ... most of the fans who are on forums like this talking about taking their 33rd trip to WDW (all staying on site, all dining at WDW etc), well, they can ... they just don't want to experience a foreign culture.

I am very much hoping to make it to Tokyo this fall. If I do it will be the last of four Disney resorts I see in 2014 ... what's that they say about 'leaving the best for last?'

It was a great vacation that really allowed us to do a "deep dive" at the parks and explore every nook and cranny. I thought about sharing some thoughts here, but the reality is the Tokyo section of the boards is deader than the cemetery near my house. I didn't feel like shouting in an empty room. Those that have been there know how incredible it is, and those that haven't been NEED to.

Feel free to use this thread to spread as much love about TDR as you see fit. Seriously. Folks don't visit the foreign parks boards and I love talking about them.

@WDWFigment ... I saw on another board that you asked about the Polynesian Terrace. It was a BEAR for me to get us reservations. I tried everything, from going to GR (they wouldn't help!), to going to the concierge at the hotel (also wouldn't), to using google translate (which didn't work). I finally was able to get reservations made by joining the morning sprint at 8AM and heading straight there. I found a girl at the entrance that spoke fairly good english, and I explained I had tried all sorts of ways to make a reservation. She then pulled out her personal cell phone, and went through everything and made reservations for me for three days later (the first night with openings). Perfect example of going "above and beyond". Having said that... We were highly disappointed. We found plenty of food we really liked at the parks, but we found the food to be pretty bad for the dinner show, and not in any way geared toward Westerners at all. It was one of those meals where we weren't even sure what each item was, even though we had a menu right in front of us. And the show was alright. It was mostly just polynesian music with a handful of dancers, and the characters came out to dance with them for a few songs. The luau at WDW was worlds ahead of it, in our opinion, although we haven't been to the luau in a quite a few years either. The one high point was when they had the little kids come up on stage to teach them a dance. Our 5 year old still talks about that, even just yesterday. But beyond that, we didn't find it to be worth what it cost... Not at all. And we REALLY wanted to love it. Also, there are huge windows that normally overlook the jungle cruise which are currently covered up. Really took away from the "tropical" thing for us. Made the big room dark and closed in.

I have wanted to do one as well (more Diamond Horseshoe for me), so I am a bit disappointed to hear your experience doing the Poly show. ... I have been told that the OLC basically views these shows as for the locals and sees no reason to make it easy (or even possible) for foreigners to book.

I have been told that if I want to go to one to just have one of my local friends book it on the Japanese website and that is, indeed, what I will do.

Since we've been back, it's been awfully hard to get excited to discuss WDW. Maybe the few changes they made to FP+ over the past couple weeks will help... But the problems are so much deeper reaching and depressing than a new technology. And I wonder, really, if there's any hope it CAN change, no matter who's in charge. I wonder if many of the problems are due to the culture of the country, and the "Nemo Seagull Mindset" (MINE! MINE! MINE!) that is so prevalent here. TDO could hire Matt Ouimet himself to pull a DL style rehab on the entire property, but you'll still have ECV's running into your ankles, people sneaking in front of you for a spot at a parade (even though you've been there for 30 minutes), dads hoisting little ones onto their shoulders right in front of you right when a show starts, Enterprise-class strollers, and a sense of entitlement that SHOULD be downright embarassing to people.

But hey... PoTC and HM have FP+, so it's all good, right? RIGHT?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Matt is busy making Cedar Fair's parks higher caliber ... and he likely wants no part of Disney after the way he was treated during his tenure. ... As to the mentality, I say Disney helps foster it. From the ECVs and double wide strollers, which they absolutely could cut down the use of and make it tougher for those who use them to crowd control CMs who actually tell guests "NO' ... but I think the worst part is caused by Disney's greed. I think it causes people to feel entitled and greedy themselves because they are nickel and dimed to death.

Funny thing about Mansion and Pirates, I went on both multiple times on my little trip. Little to no waits for them at night as usual ... but 35-45 minute waits during the day (Small World too).

Saw Jason posted this today:

NBCUniversal's 'Today' to broadcast from NBCUniversal's Universal Orlando on Friday, prompting Potter speculation

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/os-universal-orlando-today-show-20140421,0,2411192.story

I usually post 'news' only with 2-3 sources, but here I only have one so place this as a very likely 'rumour' ... UNI is probably going to announce the grand opening date for Diagon Ally and Hogwart's Express as well as show a little bit that hasn't been seen.
