Because CTM is a clip show whereas MMU was about making memories. I could give a crap about whether the photos on the castle are of actual guests or taken that day. I'd be fine with them being actors or models. Anyways, the show was about making memories & your family. It drew on those heartstrings whereas CTM is just a waste of my damn time.

Jon Hamm & Mad Men sum it up pretty well here.

OK, you totally lost me when you played a clip from the most overrated show in TV today. I think I fell asleep as soon as Don Draper opened his mouth. ... And for those folks who say the Spirit isn't always truthful, well, I do admit that when I see Matt Weiner at industry events that I ALWAYS lie and tell him how great the show is (but that is just the LA way).

So, as to your point, I thought the original show was dreadful and making guests a part of it was a marketing gimmick. Of course, the only reason the show was approved was because of the pics and PhotoPass people explaining how it would sell more packages.

The current show is wonderful. Disney music, projections and a little pyro at the end. Yet, most fanbois would rather watch the Move It, Shake it, Celebrate It show (no, not talking the gay film here). No idea why.

As a non-drinker, I require a suitable atmosphere.

But we know this is where you really want to be.

Somehow I negelcted to mention that in the current 'Be Our Guest" guides that you receive at check in at WDW Resorts there is a 'bounceback' offer of 35% off deluxe and DVC resorts and 30% off moderates that except for July is available every month this year.

This brochure was printed in late 2012/early 2013 and was already discounting in parts of 11 months of this year.

I only state this because I'm amused when Iger and Co talk about dialing back discounting when it is crystal clear that they've so conditioned people to expect discounts that they'll be there all the time (even if they're like Publix supermarkets, which raise the cost of items to ridiculous pricepoints and then always offer BOGOs on them).

How's about some talk of phenominal celebration going on at TDS and TDL. The merch, events, decor, and others to celebrate it. Seeing photos of it sure are impressing. First had stories of people who have attended are that much more impressing.

Your righteous rant is fine, funmeister, but I was only pointing out the jabs he made. Which, by your own admittance, do nothing for the topic. I appreciate you seeing my point and voicing your agreement to others. :)

Of course, you can always "ignore" me. I'll miss you though!

PS - there are posts of mine where you can read why I disagree. Its been said already.

First, I don't see your point. Oh I don't ignore. I love keeping up with you and timmy. You guys make me laugh...A LOT! Everyone does not feel like going to research your posts that you keep talking about. If you are not motivated enough to show your point instead of telling people to go "look it up" then why post? By the way...how is the job coming along at Buy n Large?

Funny thing I picked up on a twitter feed....apparently one of the Disney crazies posted a question over on the DISboards:

"Where can I conceive a child in the Magic Kingdom without getting caught?"

Sadly the thread disappeared before I could view it.
How dare you insult my thread! I was thinking about doing that on IASW in the back of the boat. Those dolls gotta be bored of looking at tourists clicking away with their cameras so why not give them a real show? ;) And free sex ed for the kiddies to boot :p

...

Just kidding ;) People be craaaaaaaaazzzy... Stuff like that is a definite indicator of too much Disney love. That's called going off the deep end. Yikes.

TWDC did tone down the "Free Dining" discounts in 2013. However, as you note, WDW rack rates are now so inflated that the "Room Only" discounts are joke. Even at 50% off, TWDC makes a killing.

Rack rate at Grand Floridian for the July 4th week starts at $518/night.

Compare that to Portofino Bay at $349/night. Included with that is the best perk offered by any theme park; unlimited FP.

WDW resorts need 35% discounts just to match Uni's rack rates.
