Disney has a moral conscious?

What's amusing about this is many of the people saying this entitilement mentality is fine would be the first to complain about someone sneaking into watch a Halloween parade at MNSSHP or using a 1997 mug to 'steal' soda at WDW resorts or even about paying taxes so strangers get healthcare.

Oh look, a bunch of jabs all nicely wrapped up in one paragraph from someone who complains when his threads go off the rails.

So transparent, but nobody can (or wants to) see it.

The Epcot Manifesto
EPCOT Center is my favorite park in the history of parks. Only problem is it doesn't exist anymore. Right now, Epcot ranks 3rd, just barely beating out DHS by a hair (or more correctly, a litre of German beer).
MK
DAK
Epcot
DHS

And yes, I have young kids, which shifts MK to the top.

You are correct MattM. You should stop reading and posting on his posts. If you disagree fine. For you to make "jabs" does nothing for the topic so what I recommend is contributing some sort of dialogue on why you feel different. It would make better conversation for all if you gave your true feelings instead of reading YOUR jabs. You can disagree but how about telling us why you disagree?

Your righteous rant is fine, funmeister, but I was only pointing out the jabs he made. Which, by your own admittance, do nothing for the topic. I appreciate you seeing my point and voicing your agreement to others. :)

Of course, you can always "ignore" me. I'll miss you though!

PS - there are posts of mine where you can read why I disagree. Its been said already.

Just a note about the heated discussion concerning the WDW marathons. One problem is that we are witnessing an etymological evolution where a word that was very specific to one particular thing is evolving to include anything related. Sort of like kleenex being used for all tissues of that sort. Marathon is becoming a synonym for race in common usage. It may drive people crazy, but once it becomes widespread, it's hard to go back to the "purer" definition.

Now you may all return to your previous disagreements. Just remember to try to limit responses to the current discussion (which may have nothing whatsoever to do with the original thread topic) and avoid insults and profanity. Or vulgarity. Thank you.

The list makes sense to me except Epcot. I don't get the love for the current incarnation of Epcot.

I'd say for me it is the same loser fanboi mentality you see with the MK. I remember when it was great and I know that visually, the park looks much the same as it did then. I damn well know it is a shadow of the place I loved in the 80s and 90s. But it still is beautiful and since World Showcase has changed little, except more dining options and much more clutter along the Promenade, I can still enjoy myself quite a bit.

No, I don't think in substance there is any way EPCOT deserves to be No. 1. ... I'm not sure ANY park in Central Florida does as they all have issues to some degree.

The difference is some are clearly getting better and some are not.

The longer I'm away from MGM the more cramped and ugly it gets. MK was never a favorite park of mine, EPCOT was, but I appreciate it much more now than I did when I was going all the time. Maybe I took for granted how wonderful the Magic Kingdom really is, but being away made me really love that park. The fact they've totally butchered EPCOT has really hurt my love for it, but it's still my favorite for these reasons: WS, nostalgia and SSE. I'm just spending way less time there.

See, I could argue that nostalgia and being away are why you appreciate the MK -- and not reality.

I waited for New Fantasyland to open (although we still have two 'major' components waiting because it really should be a five-year project! ... as an aside they are building an entire resort in China in half that time!) to judge and while it looks nice (although overrated by foamers) there is very little substance there.

I guess if not for the nice Splash refurb, the opportunity to play with the interactive stuff in the BTMRR queue and the Celebrate the MAGIC show (which does NOT get enough love from the fanbois and I can't figure out why), I would have gotten nothing out of my visits to the MK except spending time with people that mean a lot to me.

Wait a min ... I think the subversive Disney Internet spies are trying to throw us off by talking about fatties, running etc ... @WDW1974 bring us back on topic ... what are the D23 announcements and we know Disney feels pressure to atone for last year but is that atonement one more major announcement or something more broad and exciting and earth shattering!?

My dearest Sue, I wish I had an accurate copy of an agenda for D23, but Zenia's crew has apparently left me off the email list (yeah, convenient, I know).

Disney knows it HAS to make a splash in its P&R presentation if it has any hopes of the Expo continuing. They set a high bar (relatively speaking) in 2009 and then completely ignored it in 2011. Between that and the complaints of people who paid and waited in endless lines (for the good stuff) only to not get in, they can't have a repeat.

Now, the question is what is a big splash? Is it announcing one of the new projects for DLR (with a largely SoCal crowd)? Is it showing off more of Shanghai now that construction has actually started? Is it wowing the fanbois with something that they worked on with Cameron's folks to FINALLY tell us what we'll get in Pandora after waiting six years for it to open? Is it showing off the Ratatouille ride that will open in DSP next summer? Is it announcing what will be in the new Marvel land at HKDL? OR ... is it going big and announcing a DCA-style makeover for TPFKaTD-MGMS? Or announcing they aren't going big, but still putting some money and effort into the park?

Now, if it were me, I'd do ALL of the above. I'd blow people's socks off and get them excited about what Disney is doing around the world in the rest of the decade.

But this is Disney, they may show a mockup of one of the MK's new floats and do a presentation on the kiddie coaster coming and the recently opened Fantasy Faire at DL and call it a day.

Sometimes it's all about the ambience and the people you're with.

For me, MK is way down the list unless its Halloween or I'm with friends. Or both.

But yeah...the Spirit is certainly nocturnal. Likely due to his internal clock being off after staying in Asia too long.

I so agree there, Mr. Lee, which is why I wish you would bring Mrs. Lee to play at the MK!!!. ... But TOO long in Asia?!?!? Not such a thing ... and it would be nice to head back there soon, don't you think?:)

Because CTM is a clip show whereas MMU was about making memories. I could give a crap about whether the photos on the castle are of actual guests or taken that day. I'd be fine with them being actors or models. Anyways, the show was about making memories & your family. It drew on those heartstrings whereas CTM is just a waste of my damn time.

Jon Hamm & Mad Men sum it up pretty well here.

In this case that does make sense that people could be confused about whether its a counter service place. However, I've witnessed "poor tipping" many times in various vacation locations, especially WDW. I think some people just look at it like they paid a lot to be there and are being charged excessive amounts for the food and drinks so they skimp on the tips.

I'd say it's more that Disney gouges its consumers to such an extent that many wind up either taking it out on CMs on purpose or because they're simply running low on funds and assume a company with Walt's name on it, with a market cap of over $115 billion that is making record profits MUST be taking care of its servers and bartenders, right?

It's a good show, but it 'aint Disney Dreams.

It also does not get a good enough marketing push. They made the stupid move of selling the gimmick (see YOUR photos on the Castle!) instead of the actual show.

No, it's not Disney Dreams. But how many fanbois have been over to see that show. I've seen it in person four times, myself. ... We are not all @WDWFigment after all!
