Ha, that's funny. Where he went to high school has nothing to do with money we've personally made.I sorta figured money wasn't an issue for you guys when I was told where Ricky went to high school!

Why is it Ricky's responsibility to try and improve Disney?THIS!!! A million times over.
I would think as a fan one would want to use any influence you possibly have. People have more power than they think they do. If Disney feels threatened because of public outcry they are more likely to act. I believe that it is my responsibility as a fan to tell them if they are failing to deliver on what they promise. Why is it Ricky's responsibility to try and improve Disney?

Damn, I didn't realize I wasn't welcome to respond to something on here.Really, again tonight! Why don't you let your husband stick up for himself instead of you trying to fix something (that like others have already stated earlier) that isn't even about you. No one here was personally attacking you or your husband, and you really don't need to defend anything because there is nothing to defend.
All the comments you keep making are just adding fuel to the fire. We know you aren't like the people we have talked about so I don't know why you keep trying to associate yourself with them?!?
Well, you see how complaining to Disney works. Do you think if someone like Ricky told Disney to fix the yeti it would get done? Trust me, Disney knows what people like and don't. Perhaps they know they'll get your money no matter what and really don't care.I would think as a fan one would want to use any influence you possibly have. You make a valid point.I know I will get flamed for this, but I really wonder how much impact this will have. How much of the Disney core audience is also the UNI core? I believe there is an overlap but it may not be as much as people believe. As I have said in the past, we will EXTEND a trip a day or two (most likely 2 in the future) in order to go to UNI but will still spend 5 or more at WDW. It is unfortunate that it is me and people like me that may have the suits at Disney resting because they will still get theirs, so to speak? For us, the draw of UNI is almost entirely Potter. If that was not there, I would seek my 'thrill rides' at King's Island or Cedar Point. That being said, loved the Mummy and Spiderman but I would not make a special trip just for those rides.
Get done? No, but someone who runs what purports to be "a leading source for the most interesting and entertaining Disney and theme park news and information" may be thought of having some influence, should they so deem to use it. In the same vein, one would think such a site could be substative enough to disclose that it receives various gifts from Disney, gifts that may impact it's reviews and reporting.Well, you see how complaining to Disney works. I don't think anyone is saying that on this forum, but the issue is people turning a blind eye to the current state of affairs at the Florida property ... potentially because they are getting free handouts ... without fully disclosing the handouts. Why is it Ricky's responsibility to try and improve Disney?
Oh, and to all the folks who still want to argue about Marvel characters and gambling and children, I was in my local Target earlier today where back to school items are now 30% off. Funny how Spidey, Hulk, iron Man and the Avengers were plastered on all sorts of items, right next to Monsters U and Minnie and Daisy items.
They are all wonderful resorts. I spent 11 days at DAK Lodge in May and have over 100 nights at both Lodges and a few dozen at Contemporary.
But the service and upkeep etc are not up to the prices the resorts command. And, again, you picked three of my favorites and hotels that generally are better maintained than say BC and YC, which are 3-star all the way.
So you really think Ricky could have THAT much influence on Disney? He doesn't work for the company. Why would they make changes based on what he thinks? Why should it be up to him to improve your overall Disney experience?
I'm still waiting for Universal to start offering discounts to DVC members... I really think it should happen. The Orlando Sentinel's article is titled Universal may add thousands of hotel rooms. This should be the most frightening quote for corporate Disney:
Burke told analysts that NBCUniversal wants to position the Universal theme parks as "a family destination in and of itself, and not an add-on destination for somebody that spends three or four days somewhere else."
Universal is going for the jugular while corporate Disney plays with a $2B wristband designed to squeeze a few more percent out of their already grossly overcharged "guests".
Burbank has no clue about the pending train wreck in Orlando. At least they can count on an Avatar Land and a value engineered Star Wars Land to save the day.
In about 5-to-7 years.
Honestly?, Ricky may be poised to be the Al Lutz of Disneyland's transformation back when Al was about the quality of the Disneyland Resort before it was even called The Disneyland Resort on the old alt.net newsgroups which predates the current social media. Why is it Ricky's responsibility to try and improve Disney?

I personally sparred with Al during that period, because I was still under the influence of Pixie Dust. Things were not moderated then, and it got ugly. Al would not accept any of the Pixie Dust and called me out, and a lot of others. I hated him, and look what we ended up with in California. A fully refreshed Disneyland, and a second class DCA, that was later turned around.
So yes, Ricky should be calling out WDW on their faults, and WDW best qualities. That's called being unbiased. Especially if he is a fan, and wants the best from Disney. Go ahead, take the perks sent your way, but report the truth. No sugar coating. The best job Ricky can do is report the truth, even when it is negative, whether he likes it, or not.
Based on the example PhotoDave provided earlier.....yeah. Absolutely.Ahhhhhh. This certainly triggers the question I have been contemplating.
With critical "reporting" (I use this term very loosely) will the perks dry up?
So, Ricky and his wife will either do the right thing, and suffer the loss of perks, or ....Based on the example PhotoDave provided earlier.....yeah. Absolutely.
