I can't really tell from the concept art but the Gringotts building looks nothing like the movies. It looks like just a big tower. I'm probably wrong though. Everything else looks fantastic though

The boy wizard will effect the stock price going forward though.

I seriously doubt it. People here tend to look at Disney solely as Walt Disney World. There is so much more to the company. Potterland is a fly in Disney's ear in the grand scheme of things. And the annoucement doesn't seem to be moving CMCSA much this morning either for the same reasons, parks are just one part of the company.

Corporate profits aside, since this is a theme park board and all...

The most interesting part is the effect it will have on visitors to central FL.
As Rasulo said yesterday, they are looking to MM+ to keep people on property. Now, with the first reveal of Potter 2.0, the tug of war between the two resorts is taking shape.
Disney wants the whole trip and all the $.
Uni (the resort, not the architectural firm...) wants a few of the days and some of the $.

Gonna be fun to watch.

I get that the parks aren't a big thing for Comcast, they bought NBCUni for prestige and influence. However, P&R for Disney is their second largest business unit. I can't see DIS not taking a hit when the street learns they are losing more guest days and spending to the competition.

very well put, lee.

as far as my family goes, UNI wins. in all my trips to WDW (at least twice a year, every year since
93), i spent a half day off property to visit universal. that was 1994.

since WWOHP opened, i've spent two days at IOA. this will finally get me back into USO for the first time in 20 years.

But the street only looks at increases in terms of domestic and international. Disney world is one resort. Street doesn't care about Disney world vs uni Orlando. And so far, there. Is no evidence that they are losing dollars or attendance

Well you can't really put Corporate profits aside since they are very much related. But I agree it will be fun to watch I hope they both do well so that central Florida does well

Mincing words here - but internal lingo: TWDC is made up of 5 divisions, of which P&R is one. P&R is further split into a number of business units, like WDW, DLR, DCL, DVC, WDI, etc.

Oh, I surely can.
What "The Street" thinks or wants and who's stock inches up more is of little interest to me in this situation.

I'm all about who's delivering the best product, who's gaining/losing attendance/money and the battle between bigger and better rides and the virtual ball and chain.

But you can't do the latter... if the former is in the crapper. Reality is.. managing the public valuation of the company very much impacts medium term investment and operations.

For now... Soon UNI will want the entire vacation.

And if anyone thinks the Parks really don't matter in regards to coporate profits, they're wrong. Had it not been for Marvel and ESPN, WDC would have depended on the Parks for any good fiscal news recently.
