Did the exact same thing with my shares. Honestly, after the debacle with Eisner at 2004's meeting, it's really a ballsy move to make to have one person as CEO and Chairman again. What about all the promises for better corporate governance?

People are thinking that no one remembers 2004 ... it was pre-FB, pre-Twitter, pre-iPhones, pre-tablets, pre many things ... so Disney is going to just go down the same road and hope they can make it to Iger's finish line.

"How has spending on the MyMagic+ experience been allowed to overrun it's costs so significantly beyond the $800 million dollar number reported, and when exactly does the company expect to see a specific return on those dollars invested?"

"How much longer do you believe you can use escalating prices to offset stagnant customer growth?"

"Do you as the CEO of the organization, feel it is appropriate for the much needed Fantasyland Expansion to take over 5 years of construction to complete, while your competition is opening attractions in less than half that time?"

"Disney prides itself on being family entertainment, yet the trend of ever escalating price increases in food, lodging, and tickets continues to squeeze customers out of being able to afford a Disney vacation. How does Disney plan on addressing the reality it's pricing trends far exceed any growth in discretionary spending for it's guests and that such changes are leading to less visits to Disney theme parks?"

"Disney theme parks have in the past prided themselves on their presentation and emphasis on show quality. In the face of the wide availability of video and the internet, do you believe the WDW property is living up to that standard that established Disney as the leader in the theme park business?"

"If you believe Disney is living up to its self proclaimed standards of show quality and excellence in it's theme park division, would you be willing to make a visit to a WDW theme park, unannounced, and escorted by non-Disney personal to experience the theme parks as a true guest and not as a VIP group?"

those would be some of my opening salvos :)

See, it's so easy that even Flynn can do it!!! The above is what you call a good place to start.

Well Disney finally priced us out, ok so perhaps only for that one weekend. Yesterday we booked our first stay at a non-Disney hotel. For 2 nights in a value resort I simply could not pay what Disney was asking. It was ridiculous and that was with a discount. So, we are staying near DTD in a nicer hotel with a larger room for way less. I expect we will still stay in Disney resorts depending on the price and other factors, but if we really like this hotel this may open up a whole new world (I had to do it!) for us!

It gets easier the more you do it.

You just have to rip the bandage off quickly and get it over with.

My next stay (unless I somehow wind up taking a March visit, which is very unlikely) will be at a Disney resort, BUT ONLY because it will be FREE at a friend's DVC.

Thinking of coming up to see if a fistfight breaks out over the first bathroom pics?

From the Shareholders meeting

Speaking during the comment section of the meeting, Roy P. Disney, the grandson of the company’s co-founder, took aim at shareholder advocates. “It’s unfortunate that this company should be used as a podium” for those seeking to make a point about corporate governance, he said.

Well, the Big Thunder Interactive Queue has opened and Tony's Tribute is not there. (best as i can tell.)

I have read on EW that Disney is working on a pilot for next season called "Big Thunder" which is supposed to be a young doctor and his family that are given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to relocate to a mining town run by a tycoon. Once there, they learn that not all is as it seems in Big Thunder. (Yes, I am being serious here in case you are wondering.)

So, who knows? Maybe the portrait has not been placed because they are planning on casting someone that looks nothing like Tony Baxter and figured guests would probably wonder "who is that guy?" after we all tune in religiously each week and program our DVR's so we never miss a single riveting moment.

The only problems I see with that are that the left hand never really knows what the right hand is doing at Disney so I think that gives them way too much credit in advance planning and it presumes that people are actually going to watch it in the first place.

Perhaps it is only slated to go into the DisneyLand version of the queue...?
I am not a huge fan of the painting as expressed in another thread, but perhaps it was only planned for the original DL verison of the attraction?
If given the choice between the two locations, i could see it being more signifigant to place it in DisneyLand.

Sadly I do see a lot more of those stays in our future. It was more then a little disheartening. Does Disney really think that any value resort is worth $130+ per night?! I know it's in Disney and that costs more, but not that much more, not for those resorts.

Oh ...and speaking of DisneyLand...
I wonder if Tony*s collection of ticket books is still on display at the Opera House?

He once said that if he ever 'left Disney' he would be taking his tickets back.

I've got a whole bunch of these vintage Disneyland A-E tickets. My grandma saved them from all those trips back in the sixties and gave me the ones they never used.

If I were him, I'd take them back, too. Ungrateful meanies.

No, even though some of the craziest like to call me a stalker because I read what they put out to the entire planet, I like to stay as far away from that crowd as I possibly can.

That's the great thing about visiting HKDL or DLP or TDR ... no chance of ever running into a Lifestyler at one of those because they can't afford it.

One quick NGE/MM+ issue that hasn't been discussed here yet and that is what benefits the Swan/Dolphin and DD Hilton will get. Meetings are set soon between the management of those resorts and TDO officials.

Right now, they all get EMH benefits as part of their contracts with Disney. And Swan/Dolphin get included in many of Disney's dining benefits (from being able to reserve tables thru Disney to getting discounts with TiW and DVC etc) as well.

But Disney apparently 'forgot' about them when designing and starting to impliment MM+ ... and things could get quite ugly if Disney tries to amend terms in the middle of a contract or drop them altogether.

Thanks to the two kind sources who have brought this new 'wrinkle' to my attention. Much appreciated.

Is this necessarily a bad thing? Barnibus T. Bullion and the backstory were just more nonsense.

More the fact that petty people at Disney are holding the picture hostage because Tony has worked and left on bad terms. ... Personally, I'd agree it's nonsense, but no more so than any of the other interactive add-ons that we've seen over the past 3-4 years.

No, it was created for MK. And shilled as such ... until Tony departed.

Maybe Bruce accidentally poured acid all over it?

Once again...the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing.
