You twisted two of my different posts against me there. It was a bad show seeing that the building was openly being demolished when it stood for the future- I guess it fell for the future too.

Ok, Better question for you, "If this was your first time visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, walking into the gates of Epcot for the first time, would you be amazed to see a giant hole in the symbol of the famous park? Would that excite you about the rest of the park?"
I'm not twisting anything. Just showing the failed logic in your posts.

Once again, your logic is flawed. At what point are you going to draw the line of acceptable construction and unacceptable construction? If work needs to be done to improve the parks to increase longevity and continue to succeed, choices have to be made.

But to answer your question. No it wouldn't bother me. I have the ability to look at things outside of the instant and understand that everything is not about me and my enjoyment only. :)

I would be extremely disappointed, if it were my first trip not being able to ride the symbol attraction of Epcot. But thats just me... :lookaroun

I agree with that, but every attraction needs rehabs and refurbishments.

And I would be willing to miss out on SSE for a while if that's what had to happen to get rid of the wand ;)

Especially one that is about to be 25 years old.

Yep. A replacement is not needed, but a rehab is. 1994 was really the last time it come some serious work done. It is time again.

Fair enough... I think missing SSE 25 times would be worth it if the wand came down!

Well, if we are considering this the FIRST TIME visit to Epcot...

Many people that I pass by at the front gates don't even realize there's a ride in SSE. They think it's just a big, empty ball.

To them, it wouldn't be a loss.

Good point! :sohappy: Didn't think about that!

Have you ever been to Epcot during the first 3 hours of operation? SSE has lines that go all the way around both sides of the building most mornings.

Yes, but I've STILL heard people talk about how it's just a big empty ball. They're sure of it.

But that's mostly in the afternoon when I would leave the park.

Personally I doubt we'll ever see anything major to SSE as far as changing out the ride systems. Tearing apart SSE would be like tearing apart Cinderella's Castle. It's THE icon of the park, even before it got the dadgum wand.

Personally, I don't want to see anything major replace this dark ride.

I DO want to see it get some work and some TLC, which I hear it is getting. And it is getting a new post show, I would assume that's why there's construction walls up in the post show area right now.

Is there any way to make the ride smoother and the track less noisy?

In my opinion, the audio animatronics still look great, the story is as relevant as ever, and the effects are still cool. The one and only thing about SSE that cries out for attention IMHO is the noisy, bumpy, jerky ride in uncomfortable ride vehicles. I find it very unpleasant.

I just wonder whether it's reasonable to try to fix that in the near future. I can understand why any changes to the track inside the sphere would be a major undertaking, and I don't know enough about how it's constructed to know whether there are other possible solutions. Could replacing or altering the ride vehicles help, and would that be a reasonable rehab option?

I would like to see some scene enhancements and new scenes for the return trip. Overall, I agree that the story is relevent and the attraction is good. A more comfortable ride vehicle and a smoother ride would be greatly appreciated!

If however, they decided it would be best to change the attraction completely, I wouldn't be upset. I would would look forward to the finished product with great anticipation. I honestly don't believe we'll see that for a long time.

New ride vehicles are the solution with new wheels. The wheels are not properly sticking to the track, causing the bumpy ride we get especially when going upward, downward or sideways (leaving straight forward as the only smooth motion in the ride-if there is any).

The return journey back home is a real waste now. The old projected screens are aging fast, the mist feature is off and the whole thing with the weird transparent pads sending waves of communication across the world just kills it. Also, inside of the main showroom where we see Earth from space and begin our journey back, they should bring back the Space Ship/Space Station. Didn't we find out that the structure is still there, but just covered up?

I really don't see ride being (majorly) changed anytime soon. The new sponsorship with Siemens will probably extend the life of the attraction at least another 5-10 years I think.

Actually, everytime I go to ride SSE, it seems to be getting smoother and more relaxing each time. I think that at night, they are working on the vehicles to fix the problems at various points of the ride. I rode it last week and I only had to moan in pain once- great job Siemens! :sohappy:

AMEN!

If anything, they need to make those head rests higher. he back of my head, right about my neck, isthe same height as the top of the head rest. The edge digs into my skull and is VERY uncomfortable.

I either have to slouch in my seat all awkwardly, turn my head, or lean forward. In which case, I can't hear the audio very well.

Gennerally, the construction doesn't bother me, but I'd have hard time walking into Epcot and seeing a gaping hole in Spaceship Earth. When I was there last week, it looked like something was getting ready to be done in the after-show area. In the center, there were walls up instead of the empty, open lobby we were left with after AT&T bailed.

Also, after Illuminations, they were projecting the Siemens logo on Spaceship Earth. I heard that all the Siemens bigwigs were there and that is why they were doing it. Anybody know if that is true, or do they project that every night?

I saw the logo projected both nights I was there in May. It doesn't stay up for very long, so it's definitely easy to miss. I think it is probably every night, but since I'm not there every night (unfortunately), I couldn't say for sure.

I wish they would take the stupid monitors out at the begining saying "stay seated your vehicle will be turning around" if people get freaked out and start going crazy by a ride moving 1.5 mi per hour turning around then they should just fall off......but any ways yea after the ride its just...nothing they should really do somthing with that.
