Spaceship Earth Rumors

Disney recieved a large amount of negative feedback from guests seeing construction workers rip down Horizons right in front of their eyes. Also, the noise from the site caused guests in Future World plenty of discomfort.

I remember when I went on one of the days when they had just begun tearing down the front of Horizons. The noise was so horrible that we ended up leaving that side of Future World and going to wait in line for the Maelstrom (45 minutes long that day).

Imagine walking into Epcot and being greeted by the SSE Sphere being ripped open by a crane. Would that be a pleasent site? Would that have been a good show by Disney?

I don't think the majority of people have a problem with construction at the parks...

There are plenty of things to experience and enjoy at Epcot and at the price people pay to get into the parks...you can't afford to complain or be bothered by silly things...

For zealot fans (some)...the smallest chip of paint ruffles feathers.

But hey, that's just my opinion. *shrug*

If the focus of SSE changes from communication to Engineering, would they have to change the final scene so it's about outsourcing manufacturing to other countries?

Construction doesn't bother me but high pitched sirens from the construction vehicles did. It was pretty painful to hear.

Normally, I'm not bothered by this kind of stuff but it was just a bad show.

Gennerally, the construction doesn't bother me, but I'd have hard time walking into Epcot and seeing a gaping hole in Spaceship Earth. When I was there last week, it looked like something was getting ready to be done in the after-show area. In the center, there were walls up instead of the empty, open lobby we were left with after AT&T bailed.

Also, after Illuminations, they were projecting the Siemens logo on Spaceship Earth. I heard that all the Siemens bigwigs were there and that is why they were doing it. Anybody know if that is true, or do they project that every night?

Sorry folks, but all of you who think they are going to change it, just keep on wishing, because SE is a classic and will most likely never leave Epcot. I'm glad that they're investing in repairing it, shows how much value this ride adds to Epcot.

I agree. SSE will not change to focusing on engineering because of Siemens. Communication is responsible for engineering and almost all things in civilized life. Plus, the message of Epcot is communicating with people around the world in order to have a better world.

I don't think it's going to see a major change although the change from communication to engineering could be done rather easily. I don't know how I'd feel about that, but I don't think it would ruin the spirit of the ride and I'd probably be ok with it.

The biggest things it needs are

1. Work done on the cars or either replace the cars to something more comfortable with better audio.

2. A smoother track

3. Some scene enhancements.

4. Great Post Show

5. Remove the *&^*(*^&&*^ wand

Yeah... it's always bad show to see improvements in the park.

I guess those pictures of the construction of Jungle Cruise showing Walt, construction people and guests at the same time were bad show also. :zipit:

We're on page 3 and still no LEE or CORRUS reply/confirmation. How freaking annoying :brick:

Kev, I've said more than once, that there would be no major rehab in S:E... at least not in the near future ...

And certainly not replacing the tide system, you just can't gut S:E, because the track is a part of the whole construction...
You could take the whole thing down and rebuild it again... but then you would have hugh problem with S:E is that it's "a bit in the way"...

Rerouting the guests, would be very difficult, and certainly because such a rehab could take up 2 years+

And we all know what it's like around holiday season

Is that enough for confirmation??

But to ease your mind... They'll put in a new post show eventually... and again based on communication.. (but anyone could have figured that one out, by logical thinking) :D :D :D

Because Spaceship:Earth Is ALL about Communications

Ciao!:D

Here we go again bad mouthing a true Disney classic! Sure it needs some updating, the speakers need to be replaced and a few things should be added at the end. But all in all...how cool is SSE?!? It had ALWAYS been one of my favorites!

I don't think that they do that every night. Your're right they were probably just doing it because the Siemens people were there! Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

It isn't a bad show to see improvements... I will leave you with this question, "Would you enjoy staring at a gaping hole in the sphere of SSE when you enter Epcot for the next three years?"

Honestly it wouldn't bother me in the least. It means they are expanding on and working towards a simple goal... to keep the magic alive for my next visit, and the next, and the next, and the... you get the picture.

What hole... it would be more like a big nothing with small pieces of skin here and there...

Would not really bother me at all....

Why should it..they are improving things...That means they are making it better for our enjoyment. It's a GOOD thing.

You twisted two of my different posts against me there. It was a bad show seeing that the building was openly being demolished when it stood for the future- I guess it fell for the future too.

Ok, Better question for you, "If this was your first time visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, walking into the gates of Epcot for the first time, would you be amazed to see a giant hole in the symbol of the famous park? Would that excite you about the rest of the park?"

No..I would walk right out and never return..How dare they?

I would assume that they are refurbishing it...and go about enjoying the rest of my day at the park and look forward to the next time that I come to see what they had done with Spaceship Earth....

What would you do?

I would be extremely disappointed, if it were my first trip not being able to ride the symbol attraction of Epcot. But thats just me... :lookaroun
