Spaceship Earth reopening reports

Yep those "average joes" allow Disney to make more and more cash while offering the customer less and less. Ironic indeed! :hammer:
I felt SSE was much improved when we rode it... and family and friends had similar reactions on the recent visits. Maybe the offerings are not "less and less" at all. Maybe the snobbery and condescension by the elitists have led to those feelings of diminished returns.

 Question: Is the future video on the ride still the same flash type animation? The reason I ask is because there was some thought that they were only temporary and might be changed.

Also, just an added thought, instead of putting your face in the ride video, why not put them up on the triangles instead? Seeing your face suspended above you along with your fellow riders would look better than what is there now.

Not sure about the answer to that although I dont think it has changed except for the city animation portion in place of the trivia, someone who has been on it can answer im sure,
but great idea about how faces could be put up on the triangles!! I like the sound of that, add that and a sweeping moving score or song and boom could be pretty moving.

Is JII better now or originally?
How bout, Energy?
Are you saying you like the new version of 20K better?
How about SuperStarTV. Are you saying no show for several years is better?
Are you saying the Backlot tour is better now?
How about Sounds Dangerous, is it better than the original?
Is Wonders of Life improved now?
Are you saying Stitch is better than AE?

I could go on and on. I used to think people were being overly critical too but the more I looked at it the more I changed my mind.

Hey Sweetmagic, I'll be able to be @ Epcot on March 1st. I am right at the boardwalk that week. I'll fill in for MaggieGrace if she can't make it. I would love to meet the Merfster! Maybe we can ride togeather . Mike

Disney is finding ways to cheat at the details.

If the average guest doesn't see something....such as the mirror column...then why bother add flowers or plants around it and install news SSE logo signs...now it has fingerprints all over the bottom of it and scars where the old sign were....but why bother touch it of course not...the family wants to go ride test track instead.

I'm suprised they don't remove the key under the doormatt at muppetvision and start removing windows with names of people from main street....not like the average guest looks at them in the first place.

Interesting....I went to Epcot with 5 other people in January and every single one...ages 14-65 thought the ending of SSE was dismal compared to what was there before it, let alone the excellent refurb all the way up to the computer room (2007 refurb)

They too, without me even suggesting, said they rather have had that done in project tomorrow, which will be an option soon, but alas, I don't get the option of to turn my screen off during the ride.

Even more interesting was that none of the people in my party were Disney freaks.

They like SSE without the wand :lookaroun

Even my 5 year old cousin when we went to MGM in december said he likes it without "mickey's arm"......pssst he doesn't even know my opinion on the whole thing.

What do you mean could? You do go on and on... It's long since become a drone.

You choose to highlight what you see as negatives. I see changes, some of which work for me and some of which don't. So let's review your review, shall we?

Is JII better now or originally?
Never saw the original, but I enjoy the current version occasionally.

How bout, Energy?
I enjoy the show.

Are you saying you like the new version of 20K better?
Again, 20K pre-dates me, but since there isn't a new version I will assume you're being deliberately obtuse.

How about SuperStarTV. Are you saying no show for several years is better?
Haven't a clue what you're talking about, so will reiterate the obtuse reference.

Are you saying the Backlot tour is better now?

I think losing the houses portion of the tour to be replaced by LMA was a good decision.

How about Sounds Dangerous, is it better than the original?

Original? Didn't know there was one.

Is Wonders of Life improved now?

WoL was dated and falling apart when I was last in there. Nothing struck me as worth saving. I'll grant it's a pity to have a whole pavilion dormant, but what was there was nothing special IMO.

Are you saying Stitch is better than AE?

Not at all, but neither is it worse... I think AE was a waste of time and Stitch is just a different, albeit more kid-friendly, waste of time.

Now, it's it interesting that when I read your diatribe, I found some negatives and some positives and that while reading I was also thinking how you ignored Soarin', Test Track, Mission: Space and other popular new additions to Epcot because they didn't suit your deliberate bias?

I'm grateful that Disney does change things. I wouldn't have visited 8 times in the last six years if the parks were in stasis. So not only do I not agree with your pitiful negativity, I'm grateful that Disney doesn't either.

^ ^ I mentioned nothing about WoM and Horizons because I like the replacements (Test Track and M:S) very much (this is called praise for the obtuse out there). I praise when something is done to Disney's established standards and am critical when they fall short. Since you know so little about the history of WDW attractions, maybe you should do a little research before you trash someones ideas while knowing little about the subject. And finally, you might want to learn the meaning of the word obtuse before you use it in a sentence.

So AE was a waste of time, Cranium Command is nothing special, but JII is enjoyable occasionally?

I think you're as biased as the person you're criticizing.

Hey Mike, sent you a PM

No word on any possible Merf appearance, you'd have to ask him about that one.

Now back to your regularly scheduled, eye brow raising, thread

Ah, but I lead in by saying some changes work for me and some don't. My point is that change in and of itself isn't good or bad, it's just part of life. I'm accepting of change. IMO is a strong theme through my post... I didn't think it necessary to repeat it with every turn of a phrase. If you enjoyed AE and Cranium Command, that's wonderful. I personally didn't

Obtuse: [inter alia] difficult to comprehend : not clear or precise in thought or expression.

Yep, I used the word I was looking for.

That's the beauty of being human - we all have been given a brain that is capable of forming our own thoughts. As Disney lovers we ALL are biased. Each attraction on property influences us in different ways. For people to completely bash an attraction and then state their opinions on the attraction as fact is really sad.

What about people who will come to WDW for the first time in their lives this year and get to ride the new SSE? What about kids that are being born right now that will hold the new SSE in the same high regard that I hold the Cronkite/Tomorrow's Child version when they're old enough to absorb the attraction? Are they wrong to enjoy this version and perhaps even label it as their personal favorite?

There is no math formula to measure if Disney is sliding up and down the sucky scale with each change to the parks. That's why we can all formulate our own opinions on what we like, what we look forward to on trips, what keeps us going down there time after time.
