Rumor Spaceship Earth Redo Shelved Indefinitely

Expect it to be similar in scope to the 2019 refurb in that the whole thing will be getting love (minus the Earth Station rebuild obviously, the lounge and new landscaping kind of preclude that). It won't be the cheap "new narrator and a proper descent" quick fix that many here have spent the last few years speculating about. Not really at liberty to say much more, only that work is being done.
do you think that area will be addressed with a good amount of attention at least?

Obviously you can't give away too much, but very generally/broadly speaking, do you think the people here will be, at the very least, content with the changes, or is something more controversial coming?

I really don't have enough information at this time to answer that. I'm not aware of specifics, just murmurs of things that have been discussed and that the ball has started rolling quicker over the last month or so (figuratively at least, I'm pretty sure the building is still stationary)

My gut says they're gonna do it right. I don't think they would bother giving it a healthy budget otherwise.
To collaborate, it's more elaborate than what people have been expecting for a SSE re-do. I am curious on the timeline of this project though, especially with the lounge being done. The lounge likely won't effect it, but it does get my brain going.
Lounge should be finished before the main ride ever goes down. I imagine at most it might get a temporary closure during whatever overhaul occurs in Project Tomorrow. Honestly I'm more curious than anything about that, part of the rebuild that they planned for that space in 2019 was eliminating the need for a new post show area. Makes me wonder if we'll see a new post show or some variant of the 2019 plan perhaps with additional track/a larger interior queue. I have no information about that, simply spitballing.

If what I heard holds, I think y'all will like it. :)
It's ok if you can't confirm/deny this, but it sounds like SSE has skipped over JII in line, and that this was quite a recent decision. Would this be accurate? My gut is telling me this is the case and that they're still arguing over what to do with JII - I just wonder how long they need to figure out what to do with it 🤷‍♂️

Not Moth but from my understanding JII hasn’t ever been definitively planned as “the next project”. SSE seemed like a very likely pick for months and recent developments seem to prove that it is the next thing. For the last decade of JII rumors it has always been “they’re planning on this but it’s not the next thing they’re gonna do”. I think the last time that wasn’t the case was when FEA cut the line?

Basically what DreamfinderGuy said. I just used the term "line" to make it easier to understand for myself and readers here.

It's not tooooo recent either, I've always had people telling me SSE was gonna be before Imagination. I still believe Imagination is coming after SSE is back online, but yeah they're likely still planning that out.

There's plans for Imagination being floated around like always, healthier budget than what I was told prior due to a miscommunication (backed up by others like good ol Martin!), and that's happening by EPCOT50. SSE is just being done prior in my eyes because that space is already having work done in it, and it hasn't been touched since 2007, may as well get it up to date!

Magic Eye is an interesting factor in all of this since that could very well "skip" Imagination the Ride. But now I'm just spit balling. But Imagination is an active topic and they're always talking about what to do with it. I know that's not the ideal outcome currently, but hey, it's not like they can hold it off forever.

If you ask me? SSE at Destination D23 next year. Closes by end of next year or early 2026.

How well does it stay in sync and where do you start it?
I started at load & then into the attraction, I was the only one on it at the time since it was during EF & the park was about to close. Got lucky, not too many stops because of that, but from what I remember it was pretty well synched! The track slowed down a bit in parts so that caused it to get a little awkward but I was able to adjust it throughout

I’m happy to hear the confirmation of a healthier budget for JII. Only thing that concerns me is the whole thing with the execs failing to agree on a plan, when in reality they’ve got an easy option of bringing back the original as close as they can get it. It is doable without the turntable, I hope they take this direction (with proper budget etc…). A little worried someone up there still wants to shove more Pixar into the ride itself, but I’m confident Figment will still be there no matter the case.

Focusing on the better news for now, I’m happy the SSE stuff seems to be well underway, that timeline for announcements makes alot of sense. I could easily see that one as a Destination D announcement, considering how they announced TT 3.0, & then I’m hopeful they’ll save Imagination for the next big D23 reveal
