Rumor Spaceship Earth Redo Shelved Indefinitely

Internal is aware they can't really afford to cut corners here.
That makes me feel at least some sort of comfort. At least they know they can’t mess it up this time. Let em cook I
Story Light idea got dropped when the first go got shelved. It was basically a "back to the drawing board" thing. When it gets pulled off the "shelf", it'd be because they found an idea that works better/would be recieved better than Story Light stuff.
Good! I’m glad they are taking this approach! Well, with the “fun to be free rumors” I now begin my foolish hope for “tomorrows child “ coming back. Songs should be put in Epcot again. Heck, put “listen to the land” back in LWTW! It’d be cheap and easy and make people happy!
But after my Country Bear mix up I'm gonna hold back on specifying specifics until I see some sources consistently get stuff right in a row.
I get it. don’t beat yourself up about it though, we all make mistakes sometimes.

Ooh no, I ain't beating myself up. This crowd (especially the EPCOT circles, LOVE YALL THOUGH) are ravenous, I just wanna take steps to make sure I'm providing info that's been backed up by sources that have a good track record so yall don't run off with it haha. I know very reliable people in this community get stuff wrong, like I said in other threads, multibillion dollar company, lots of moving parts and voices talking over each other.

Who knew Blood on the Saddle would filter out some sources haha.

I feel confident in saying that we're in the latter half of the lifespan of 2007 SSE and JIIWF though, and those two have less than a decade left.

But like, Disney isn't a stranger to mucking up 50th anniversaries. So we could have a 25 year old version of Spaceship Earth and 29 year of JIIWF.

Eugh.

Yeah, I understand. Multibillion companies are shifty. You do good work, keep it up!

it’s their blood on the saddle!

I do hope I ride a new figment before I am 30 lol.
(especially the EPCOT circles, LOVE YALL THOUGH)
My advice to new fandom members: if you want to become an Epcot fan, NO YOU DONT /j

Basically, from all of my points I’ve made today, here’s my thoughts on figment:

Is that implying that there's pressure on from the reception of the other Epcot additions?
Spaceship Earth is one of my favorite remaining attractions at Epcot. While it’s ride mechanism and certain segments of the attraction are in desperate need of updating, given what we’ve seen done to Epcot in recent years with very few exceptions, I am glad the guts of this attraction was spared the attention of Zach and Chapek.

"They know they can't screw this one up! And that terrible idea that leaked isn't being considered anymore!"

Didn't we just go through this with Tiana's?
To be fair they already got grilled back in 1999 when they tried to kill off Figment entirely. It's not entirely unbelievable.

The pressure is more on Imagination than SSE, I think.

I believe they're under pressure. I just have a very hard time believing it'll actually help result in a great ride.

Oh no, I'm not believing a hypothetical Imagination 4 will be good until after I've...
•waited in queue
•got into my vehicle
•rode it
•got a drink and contemplated it
•if it's good, it's good

I'm dreading they go "at least it's not Nigel Channing" route. Eugh.

Wait SSE got shelved? wow, that’s surprising. Guess sponsorship fell through? I guess nothing for Epcot this d23 other than TT? (I refuse to say figment, not getting hopes up again.)
The SSE project was shelved four years ago. Essentially the entire project team was laid off during COVID (some were later invited back). Their public announcement of it being delayed was nothing more than damage control at a momentary time where they thought they might revisit it. Future work on SSE will not be the overhaul announced at D23.

Are you implying another overhaul will be announced?

Honestly with the quality of recent projects I’d rather the refurb be shelved anyway, at least in terms of changing the show. The ride needs mechanical/ maintenance love, but I don’t want IP.

Actually, due to the response Country Bear Musical Jamboree got, instead of One Little Spark or other Disney IP songs, Figment will sing

•Parts of One Little Spark until the Pink Elephants or Huffalumps butt in.
•Figment is then backed up by Inside Out characters on his side, as the ride rapidly goes thru 30 sec snippets of the following:
•Hot Hot Hot!
•Margaritaville
•World of Pure Imagination (Sponsored by Warner Bros!)
•Imagine-John Lennon
•Radioactive by IMAGINE Dragons, HAR.
And the finale will have
•Joy and Figment doing a duet of Not Like Us.

Ride is called: Journey Into Corporate Synergy

This would be funny, but there is someone reading it and thinking it's a good idea. 😱
