Spaceship Earth not finished?

Questions...questions!

3.) Apparently the decent (as descibed) has not been "finished"...with so many changes with cell phones..twitter..and new tech gear coming out...am I just sitting on on a limb and this could have been incorporated into the decent?

Just a thought....

No, that would have made too much sense. Flying cars and robot butlers are more important to telling the story of human communication...er, "inventing the future". :brick:

Sooooo sick of waiting.

Do like me and quit. I gave up on the SSE descent changing as a fanboi dream and have accepted it for what it is. To me its finished as its ever going to be, at least until the next major refurb in 5 years or so.

If something happens before then I'll be completely surprised but its not going to and I've come to grips with that. The quicker you accept it, the quicker the pain goes away.

I saw a commercial last night that included a promotion for a video postcard where you can upload a picture of your face and is inserted on a dancing elf with your choice of several videos... exactly like Spaceship Earths finale. Only the videos are computer-generated animation and look much better. Shouldn't it be embarrassing to them that the grand ending to the icon attraction of the park about technology consists entirely something that doesn't even hold its own against something that you can stumble across while you're surfing the Internet at your own home? It'd be great if this was a feature on the Spaceship Earth website, but it seems like they should have finally figured out something overwhelmingly immersive and uplifting and WOW to do with the descent, instead of giving you a giggle at the very most.
Can you post a link?

You talk about this like it's some sort of life issue...:lookaroun:lol:

I'll keep waiting, but it's not going to have be going nuts, here. It's Disney, after all.

If you get depressed over a Disney ride that's 75% great and 25% decent/bad you've got issues.
I guess I have a lot of issues then but at least history has shown us that no version of Spaceship Earth lasts forever and who knows I might be working on the next one.

So i was thinking about this very topic today ( the lousey decent currently in SSE..don't ask me why..). Apologies if this has been covered, but a question-

WHY did'nt Disney just KEEP the cool fiber-optic laden decent as-is until the time came to install the 'new decent' scenes ( IF they are even coming now at this point..)?? It seems to me it would not be too difficult to just remove/cover the old window/Future City scenes and just keep the nice sparkling 'magical' lighting effects going in the decent tunnel. It would blend fine with the newer lighting they put in with the Refurb ( blue 'stars' with mirrors, etc..). Why did they remove it ALL then, and just leave a big black 'nothing'?

I suppose it was because of the monitor screens in the Omnimovers....all those points of light would probably mess with the screens or maybe attention of the Guests. For a better experience though, i think they should have left them...or at least left it partially in tact until the time came to install the final 'decent' scene/effect.

Having a few twinkling lights would enhance the experience a little...and also make spotting all the stuff you CAN see currently that much more harder to see ( in theory) with the lighting effects being able to distract the eye.

Again, sorry if this has already been covered...but it has been in my thoughts and wanted to add it here to the discussion.

Because there were plans for other things along with some of the old, as I hear it.

The Ascent is amazing. Even with the bad script.
Like a previous poster mentioned, I already accepted the descent a LONG time ago and I would also be surprised if they finally do something else to the descent. But it's obvious that the focus is on the Video to Your Future. I do not mind it nowadays. Heck, I still pine for the SSE94 finale, (with the score, the Fiber Optics, the Future City, and that my real name was used as the researcher in the rainforest diorama! :D) but I just focus on what's happening now. Besides, why the extra work around the descent if those awfully bright screens are a major distraction to your surroundings? Ever try to cover them up to see the actual descent? It's like dim work lights. :p

At this point I'd accept the descent as it is if they at least tidied the place up. Make it look complete. Exposed speakers, badly drapped curtains, chicken wire speaks volumes when seen in the flagship attraction of the park, the very first thing most guests experience when they arrive.
