Spaceship Earth not finished?

I feel the new ending is perfect in every repectable way. I usually can hear Twain & Franklin quite clearly, the pathos in the digital projection is well conveyed and the remixed song/arrangement is timed to a tee.

Except the kids waving the fireworks. That is a total letdown, 100% cheesiness. :brick:

I do agree in maybe an updated screen, but dated? Not in my book. :xmas:

I honestly think that there have been show issues on the timings. I'll let you know in a week.

Some of the scenes show their age, yes, but it's still a VERY good film

I stand by saying that Ellen's Energy Adventure is not outdated (in it's message), but that doesn't mean I wouldn't appreciate an overhaul.

There is enough room for an attraction and post show exhibits that discuss the many different ways of conserving energy that have come to fruition/popularity over recent years.

As I said, the Fossil Fuel education is the relevant part, but I do agree that Fossil Fuels are not the only answer to energy issues.

The risk I see now though is that the pavilion would like get a new spokesperson, and the obvious candidate is Al Gore. I have no problem with Al Gore, and I know he has made strides to rid himself of the "boring" image he had as our Vice President, and Presidential candidate, but regardless it would be a stark contrast from Ellen and Bill Nye.

I haven't heard any rumors surrounding this pavilion, other than a plan several years ago about DuPont sponsoring a major attraction that would take up the footprint of both Wonders of Life and Ellen's Energy Adventure. Is there anything on the horizon for this area?

Gore the Bore? Seriously?

At least put in Monsters, Inc. and kill the pavilion with style. :animwink:

A local health company (I forgot the name) was supposed to sponsor something in Epcot, but it apparently fell through.

Interesting for the Health Company, though....Were they interested in the obvious choice?:lookaroun

That would be so awesome, I would really like to see a WOL refurb of some type. Then we may one day get to see Body Wars 2: The Colonoscopy Adventure.

I am not sure about Al Gore because some people would dismiss it as "Liberal Propaganda".(though I personally do not understand why the future of our planet is a political issue.) I do think a new UOE should tackle some of the territory that Al Gore talks about' but again try to keep politics out of it as much as possible. Oh' and of course they have to restore Energy' You make the world go round' and the Universe of Energry theme.

Don't forget the spinning blocks-screen preshow! :xmas:

News:
A section of curtains was removed on the SSE descent, revealing black nothingness that extends all the way to the back of the previous show space.

So the removal is compete?:fork:

Not even stars remain?:brick:

No, the removal is not complete.

Only a small section of curtains was removed. It's after the triangle spaghetti section (scene?). You can clearly see the SSE-like geodesic structure holding up the white overhead triangles, and the blackness extends all the way to the back of the previous show space. That's really the only way I can describe it.

Wait, wait, wait.

Chicken wire, or something else?

And this is in terms of DEPTH, right, not LENGTH, right? (Into the old set rather than down it.)

I saw a commercial last night that included a promotion for a video postcard where you can upload a picture of your face and is inserted on a dancing elf with your choice of several videos... exactly like Spaceship Earths finale. Only the videos are computer-generated animation and look much better. Shouldn't it be embarrassing to them that the grand ending to the icon attraction of the park about technology consists entirely something that doesn't even hold its own against something that you can stumble across while you're surfing the Internet at your own home? It'd be great if this was a feature on the Spaceship Earth website, but it seems like they should have finally figured out something overwhelmingly immersive and uplifting and WOW to do with the descent, instead of giving you a giggle at the very most.

Go ride SSE at your earliest opportunity. You'll see what I mean about the descent. It's basically just a big black box of nothingness now, similar to the gigantic empty spaces on Imagination.

Yes, depth. You can see the strong structure—NOT CHICKEN WIRE—that holds up the overhead triangles. The structure was previously covered with curtains. That's when I realized the curtain was missing; after all, I was too engrossed in the really cool futuristic descent video to notice anything else around me. :dazzle: :p

Ahhh....Well....Let's be positive...Is this progress?:lookaroun:lol:

Movement could mean work.

Questions...questions!

1.) Since the changes, how are the lines for Spaceship Earth? When last I was there, refurb was going on.

2.) The naration has changed, and I know I will miss Jeremy Irons voice, did anyone know that on some of the internet radio stations on "Live 365" will replay the whole ride? It is WONDERFUL to listen to! It can be purchased!

3.) Apparently the decent (as descibed) has not been "finished"...with so many changes with cell phones..twitter..and new tech gear coming out...am I just sitting on on a limb and this could have been incorporated into the decent?

Just a thought....

Oh, I hear ya. I'll go on it in a few days. It's a sad state when Disney has got us interested in EMPTY SPACE.

What was so great about the fancy lights and the music of the old descent? You like flashy lights buy some Christmas lights. They need to install some Buzz Lightyear laser guns and give you target to shoot at on the way downthat would make it an instant classic again.

This would ruin the ride entirely.
