Space Mountain/Tomorrowland Transit Authority update...

Exactly? Not sure. It's been described to me a couple of ways, but I'm not sure which is correct.
In a nutshell, instead of a traditional anti-rollback system that engages as soon as the train begins to ascend, the one on Everest only engages when there is a need for it.
Interesting how they realized that a tea train wouldn't make that noise so they eliminated it for thematic reasons, but are content to allow a rocket to clickety-clack it's way up a hill?

I`m a bit loose on the specifics, but a magnetic field is generated by the motion of the car going up the hill (by a metal or magnetic strip attached to the hill but under the car) - the rollback bar is held up by this field so it dosn`t clunk on the teeth. The car stops, the magnetic force is lost and the bar drops into place on the teeth, stopping the car from rolling back. Simple physics.

Or something like that.

Wow, you two don't know the specifics?

To exact the information for you both, it's actually a separate wheel on the cars that rolls along a ramp along the Chain lift (Look for it next time your ride) generating the Magnetic current that keeps the Rollback from clanking on the dog teeth. Train stops, wheel stops, no current, Rollback comes down and hits the dog teeth.

Fun Fact: When they're running the program retool that slows the ride down to run five trains :)hurl:) the current of the spinning wheel isn't the precise calculated amount, and if you listen closely you can hear the tops of the rollbacks hitting the dog teeth ever so slightly.

Ah, how I loves the Expedition Everest...
